    • In an image forming apparatus accommodating a developing device, a developing roller 1 includes a magnet member 3 non-rotatably fixed and a sleeve 2 rotatably moved around the outer surface of the magnet member 3, powdery developers D held on the outer periphery of the sleeve 2 are brought into contact with a photosensitive member 10 to visualize an electrostatic latent image, and the magnet member 3 is provided with a magnetic pole portion N.sub.0 having first and second magnetic poles N.sub.1 and N.sub.2. The first and second magnetic poles N.sub.1 and N.sub.2 have the same polarities and are adjacent to each other and confront the photosensitive member 10. The powdery developers D include three developer parts, an upper developer D.sub.1, a middle developer D.sub.12 and a lower developer D.sub.2, which are successively retained on the outer surface of the sleeve 2 by the first and second magnetic poles N.sub.1 and N.sub.2. The upper developer D.sub.1 retained by the first magnetic pole N.sub.1 and the middle developer D.sub.12 retained by the middle portion between the first and second magnetic poles N.sub.1 and N.sub.2 are brought into contact with the photosensitive member, while the lower developer D.sub.2 retained by the second magnetic pole N.sub.2 is held out of contact with the photosensitive member.

    • This invention relates to a method of developing electrostatic latent images which comprises the steps of;mixing a developer including toners having a mean particle size of 3 to 20 .mu.m and resin-coated carriers with a large number of pores having a pore size distribution of 0.001 to 3 .mu.m and a mean pore size of 0.1 to 0.5 .mu.m on a surface thereof;applying said developer onto a developing sleeve made of nonmagnetic material and arranged oppositely to an electrostatic latent image-retaining member with a minute gap therebetween;forming a magnetic brush of the developer by the magnetic force of a magnet member having plural poles in the circumferential direction thereof, said magnet member fixedly arranged within the developing sleeve;conveying the developer by a rotation of the developing sleeve to a developing zone where the electrostatic latent image-retaining member is arranged oppositely to the developing sleeve; anddeveloping electrostatic latent images by the toners which are held on the developing sleeve.

    • A developing apparatus is accommodated in an image forming apparatus to develop an electrostatic laten image formed on an electrostatic latent image support member, using two-component developer of toner and magnetic carrier. The developing apparatus is provided with a developing sleeve opposed to the electrostatic latent image support member, a magnetic roller disposed inside the developing sleeve to hold the carrier on a peripheral surface of the developing sleeve, a toner hopper accommodating the toner and having an opening at its one end, a toner supply roller rotatably disposed in the opening of the toner hopper and opposed to the developing sleeve, a bristle height adjusting member opposed to the developing sleeve on the downstream side of a developing region and on the upstream side of a toner supply region in a direction of movement of the carrier held on the peripheral surface of the developing sleeve. The developing sleeve confronts the electrostatic latent image support member in the developing region and the toner supply roller in the toner supply region.

    • A paper feeder for feeding a large supply of paper to a recording apparatus such as a copying machine. The recording apparatus has a main body with a driving apparatus therein, an automatic feed mechanism therein including paper storage cassettes and an automatic feed for feeding recording paper from the cassettes, and a manual feed for feeding into the apparatus recording paper manually inserted thereinto. The paper feeder has a recording paper accommodating unit for accommodating a larger number of sheets of recording paper than the cassettes, the unit having a sheet feeder for feeding the recording paper out of the unit, and releasable engaging hooks for removably attaching the unit to the main body with the feed positioned in a position opposed to said manual feed of the apparatus for delivering sheets of recording paper to the manual feed. The apparatus drive is connected to the sheet feeder when the unit is attached to the main body, whereby when the unit is attached to the main body with a multiplicity of sheets of recording paper accommodated therein, the sheets can be fed to the interior of the apparatus through the manual feed.

    • The present invention is a projection device for a photocopying machine in which the original documents are moved during the photocopying process and which permits photocopying both of thick and of thin original documents. The projection means includes a focussing means which has a short focal length and is positioned to correctly focus the image of thin original documents which are brought to an exposure station and are only separated space-wise from the focussing means onto a photosensitive material, and a transparent block which, when a thick original document is copied, is automatically interposed between the focussing means and the exposure station and compensates the deviation in the path of image-wise light caused by the transparent carrier on which the thick original document is supported, whereby good resolution is achieved in photocopies of all types of original documents.
