    • An electrical connector connecting a spark plug to an ignition coil comprising electrically insulating caps each having a cylindrical engaging surface adapted to be attached to the spark plug and the ignition coil. An electrically insulating sheath is attached and engaged with the engaging surfaces of the insulating caps at the engaging surfaces at its opposite ends so that at least one cylindrical engaging interface is defined therebetween. An electrical conductor is supported by and extended through the insulating sheath for electrically connecting the ignition coil and the high voltage terminal of the spark plug to each other. The electrical connector also comprises an electrically insulating structure, disposed in the engaging interface between the engaging surfaces of the caps and the sheath, for providing additional electrical insulation in the engaging interface. The insulating structure may be a circumferential annular ridge and groove in the engaging interface, an electrically insulating bonding agent disposed in the engaging interface, an axially extending annular wall and groove, or a circumferential annular space defined in the engaging interface between the engaging surfaces and a volume of electrically insulating bonding agent filled within the annular space.

    • An ignition apparatus for an internal combustion engine can be reduced in size and cost. A plurality of closed magnetic circuit cores (2) are built in a casing (8) and each have an excitation portion (2a) and non-excitation portions (2b). A plurality of coil parts (100) each includes a primary coil (4) and a secondary coil (6) which are arranged to surround the excitation parts (2a) of a corresponding one of the closed magnetic cores (2). The closed magnetic circuit cores (2) are arranged along an axial direction (A) of the coil parts (100) such that adjacent ones of the non-excitation portions (2b), which are those sides of adjacent cores (2) each of which extends from one end of a corresponding excitation portion (2a), overlap each other at least partially in the axial direction (A).

    • An ignition apparatus for internal combustion engine includes an ignition power unit 1A having a power transistor 14A for feeding and shutting off a primary current i1 to and from an ignition coil 13 and a control circuit 2 having a CPU 21 for calculating an ignition timing of an internal combustion engine and a feeding time of the primary current in accordance with an operating state D and outputting an ignition signal G to the power transistor, feeds and shuts off the primary current in response to an ignition signal Ga to generate a high-tension secondary voltage from the ignition coil. The power transistor has a characteristic for increasing a direct current amplifying ratio as a base to emitter voltage VBE between a base and emitter increases to suppress the rising-up of the primary current to thereby suppress a secondary voltage generated when the primary current starts to be fed. With this arrangement, the ignition apparatus for internal combustion engine can suppress malfunction when the ignition signal rises up without the use of a high-tension diode and realize cost reduction and miniaturization of the apparatus.
