    • The purpose of the present invention is to provide a nonaqueous-electrolyte battery that exhibits high charge/discharge performance, i.e. high input/output performance, over a long period of time. This nonaqueous-electrolyte battery, in which a nonaqueous electrolyte and a group of electricity-generation elements that each have a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator that isolates said positive electrode and negative electrode are sealed inside a battery case, is characterized in that the negative electrodes contain graphite having an edge/surface ratio (fe), as defined by the following equation, of 0.03-0.1. fe=(2B/La+T/d002)/(2B/d100+T/d002). In this equation, B represents the mean grain diameter of the graphite, T represents the grain thickness, La represents the a-axis crystallite size, d002 represents the spacing between (002) planes, and d100 represents the spacing between (100) planes.

    • There is provided an automotive brake control system capable of executing ABS control (skid control), in which when an abnormality such as superimposition of noise on the output of a wheel speed sensor occurs, a pseudo vehicle body speed is generated by wheel-speed sensor signal excluding an abnormal wheel-speed sensor signal. The automotive brake control system includes an abnormality judgment section which determines whether an abnormal wheel-speed sensor signal is included in the wheel-speed sensor signals. The abnormality judgment section cooperates with a pseudo vehicle body speed generating section for generating a pseudo vehicle body speed based on the wheel-speed sensor signals except the abnormal wheel-speed sensor signal when the abnormality judgment section determines that the abnormal wheel-speed signal is present. The abnormality judgment section includes a pressure-reduction time counter which measures a pressure-reduction time from a time when a pressure-reduction operating mode is initiated due to a rise in the pseudo vehicle speed during the skid control, and an abnormality decision circuitry which determines that the abnormal wheel-speed sensor signal is present when the pressure-reduction time exceeds a predetermined time period.

    • A vehicular brake controlling apparatus comprises: a brake unit to enable a suppression of boosting a braking liquid pressure independently of each wheel cylinder, each wheel cylinder operatively braking a corresponding one of vehicular front and rear road wheels according to the braking liquid pressure; a plurality of road wheel velocity sensors, each road wheel velocity sensor detecting a revolution velocity of the corresponding one of the road wheels and outputting a signal indicating the detected road wheel revolution velocity thereof; and a controller configured to be enabled to execute such a braking force distribution control function as to controllably operate the brake unit to suppress the boosting in the braking liquid pressure for the rear road wheels on the basis of a revolution velocity difference between the front and rear road wheels derived from the signals outputted from the respective road wheel velocity sensors when the revolution velocity difference is in excess of a predetermined start threshold value and to be enabled to execute a back-up control function for the braking force distribution control function on the basis of the signals outputted from the other road wheel velocity sensors which are operated normally when detecting an occurrence of failure in any one of the road wheel velocity sensors, the controller being configured to modify the predetermined start threshold value from a value used during the execution of the braking force distribution control function with all of the road wheel velocity sensors operated normally when executing the back-up control function.
