    • An image forming apparatus includes a temperature sensor detecting an operating ambient temperature of the polygon motor, and a controller controlling the polygon motor and the paper feed mechanism. If the temperature detected by the temperature sensor is equal to or greater than a preset temperature, the controller controls, before operation for giving a command to start image formation is performed, the polygon motor to rotate; increases, in response to the operation, a rotational speed of the polygon motor up to a rated speed; and controls the paper feed mechanism to start conveying a sheet of paper at a time when a period of time variable depending on the detected temperature has elapsed, the period of time being preset to be shorter as the detected temperature increases, in expectation of a time required for the rotational speed of the polygon motor to reach the rated speed.

    • To provide an inexpensive cell incubator for a single cell operation supporting robot having the markers (first and second feature points) required to transform the position of a cell detected on a table coordinate system into a position on the intrinsic coordinate system of the cell incubator. First and second feature points are formed on a film-like feature point setup chip which is then stuck to the cell incubator body such as a conventional dish, thus constituting a cell incubator. Since manufacture of a new die for forming the first and second feature points directly on the cell incubator body is not required, an inexpensive cell incubator for a single cell operation supporting robot can be provided.

    • An inverter device of a rotating electrical machine drives a multiphase rotating electrical machine having the variable number of rotations using a switching element provided for each phase. An example of the inverter device of the rotating electrical machine includes: a frequency setting unit for determining and setting a carrier frequency of a carrier signal for use in driving the switching element for each phase depending on the state of each phase of the rotating electrical machine for each specified electrical angle obtained by equally dividing a cycle of an electrical angle; and a signal generation unit for generating a drive signal for drive of the switching element of each phase using the carrier signal of the carrier frequency set for each phase by the frequency setting unit. The carrier frequency of each phase is an integral multiple of the phase voltage frequency at the specified electrical angle.
