摘要： A wavelength converting device 1 has a ferroelectric layer 6 made of a ferroelectric material. The ferroelectric layer has a wavelength converting portion A having a ridge-type optical waveguide 7, additional portions A and B provided in both sides of the wavelength converting portions, respectively, and groove-forming portions C and D between the wavelength converting portion and the additional portions, respectively. The device further has a supporting body 2 adhered to a back face 6f of the ferroelectric layer 6, and back side metal films 5A and 5B covering at least a part of a back face 6f of the additional portions 6, respectively. The back side metal film 5A or 5B does not cover the back face 6f of the wavelength converting portion 6.

摘要： In a piezoelectric thin film device of the present invention, the degree of flexibility is enhanced in selection of a piezoelectric material constituting a piezoelectric thin film and the crystal orientation in the piezoelectric thin film. A piezoelectric thin film filter, including four film bulk acoustic resonators, has a configuration where a filter section for providing a filter function of the piezoelectric thin film filter is bonded with a flat base substrate mechanically supporting the filter section via an adhesive layer. In manufacturing of the piezoelectric thin film filter, a piezoelectric thin film is obtained by performing removal processing on a piezoelectric substrate, but the piezoelectric thin film obtained by removal processing cannot independently stand up under its own weight. For this reason, a prescribed member including the piezoelectric substrate is previously bonded to the base substrate as a support prior to the removal processing.

摘要： It is provided a structure capable of reducing the loss of incident light propagating in a three-dimensional optical waveguide in a optical waveguide substrate having a ridge type optical waveguide. An optical waveguide substrate has a ferroelectric layer 3 made of a ferroelectric material, a ridge portion formed on a surface of the layer 3 and protrusions provided in both sides of the ridge portion. A three-dimensional optical waveguide is provided in the ridge portion. Alternatively, the substrate has a ridge portion 15 formed on a surface of the layer 3 and step portions provided in both sides of the ridge portion 15 and lower than the ridge portion 15. Grooves 16 are formed in the outsides of the step portions, respectively, and a three-dimensional optical waveguide is provided in the ridge portion 15.

In manufacturing of the piezoelectric thin film filter, a piezoelectric thin film is obtained by performing removal processing on a piezoelectric substrate that can individually stand up under its own weight, but substrates made of one kind of single crystal material are adopted as the base substrate and the piezoelectric substrate, to make the respective thermal expansion coefficients of the piezoelectric thin film and the base substrate coincident with each other.
