摘要： A mechanism for adjusting the position of a pickup used in a disc player. The mechanism includes a slider which is driven along a path in the radial direction of a turntable. The slider has a projection which serves as the origin of angular movement. An adjustment plate is mounted on the slider and has the pickup mounted thereon. The adjustment plate is movable in a direction perpendicular to the radial direction of the turntable. A plurality of tension springs are provided between the slider and the adjustment plate to bias the plate against one of a plurality of side walls of the slider. The tension springs further bias a lower surface of the adjustment plate against the projection. In this manner, the optical axis of an objective lens of the pickup passes through the origin of angular movement. A tracking adjustment device is mounted on the slider for angularly moving the adjustment plate to adjust the inclination of the pickup in a tracking direction. A tangential adjustment device is mounted on the slider for angularly moving the adjustment plate to adjust the inclination of the pickup in a tangential direction. Further, a centering adjustment device is provided on the one side wall for moving the adjustment plate to adjust the centering of the pickup.

摘要： A slider controller for a disk player including a slider which supports an optical pickup and which is driven by a linear motor. The linear motor for moving the slider is supported on an auxiliary chassis. The auxiliary chassis is swingably mounted with respect to a main chassis of the disk player so that the optical axis of an information reading light beam emitted from the pickup can be adjusted to keep the axis perpendicular with respect to the surface of the disk. The slider controller further includes a pushing cam, a locking plate and a drive member. Upon operation of the drive member, the pushing cam is moved by the drive member to push a contact surface of the locking plate such that a locking portion of the locking plate is engaged with the slider during a stoppage mode of the disk player. Therefore, the slider is locked by the locking plate despite the adjustment of the inclination of the slider.

摘要： A computerized method and apparatus compresses symbolic information, such as text. Symbolic information is compressed by recursively identifying pairs of symbols (e.g., pairs of words or characters) and replacing each pair with a respective replacement symbol. The number of times each symbol pair appears in the uncompressed text is counted, and pairs are only replaced if they appear more than a threshold number of times. In recursive passes, each replaced pair can include a previously substituted replacement symbol. The method and apparatus can achieve high compression especially for large datasets. Metadata, such as the number of times each pair appears, generated during compression of the documents can be used to analyze the documents and find similarities between two documents.

摘要： An unsprung state detection part (140) calculates a variation amount X (=|φ−φ′|), which is a magnitude of a difference between a detected angle φ output from a resolver rotational angle sensor (40) for detecting a rotational angle of an in-wheel motor (30) and an estimated angle φ′ of a motor rotational angle (S11 to S13). The estimated angle φ′ can be calculated by adding an estimated angle of the rotation of the motor (30) in one calculation cycle to a detected angle φn−1 of the previous calculation cycle. When the variation amount X is more than a road surface determination threshold Xref, the unsprung state detection part (140) determines that the travel road on which a vehicle (1) is traveling is a rough road (S14, S15). As a result, the road surface determination can be made by using the rotational angle sensor (40).

摘要： A location support relating to a mobile station that can make use of multiple communication networks more efficiently. In an SUPL server of a location system, a judgment is made as to which of two communication networks is accessed by a mobile station based on information specifying the access point of the mobile station, with this access point being notified from the mobile station, whereby the information is then notified from the SUPL server to a location information management device. As a result, in the location information management device, requests to a communication network, which is not accessed by the mobile station, for location information for use in location of the mobile station are suppressed. This makes it possible for location support relating to a mobile station capable of using multiple communication networks to be carried out more efficiently.
