    • A test sample color comparison device is disclosed which has a casing unit with an insertion slot for inserting a color test sample therein, and a display section for displaying the color test sample adjacent at least one of a plurality of reference color shades, as the reference color shades are successively moved into position adjacent the color test sample by a manipulation wheel. When an operator determines that a reference color shade adjacent the test sample corresponds in color to the color of the test sample, he pushes a switch to cause a readout of stored information corresponding to the reference color shade then adjacent the test sample. Readout of the stored information is based on a bit pattern set by a plurality of converter switches which are turened on and off in different patterns which correspond to the different color shades as the reference color shades are moved into position by the manipulation wheel. An uneven pattern code section moves in association with the manipulatable wheel and actuates the converter switches. A preferred uneven pattern code section is arranged so that all of the converter switches are actuated roughly equally during a full rotation of the manipulatable wheel, and so that only one of the converter switches is switched on or off during incremental movement of the manipulable wheel.

    • A sensor probe cover (20) is composed of two substantially square transparent films (21) and (22) and a ring (23) having a hole (23a) suitable for being mated with a sensor probe (12). The center of the first film (21) is provided with a hole (21a), and the ring (23) is fused to the inner periphery of the hole (21a) on the inner surface of the first film (21). The ring (23) is made of a material harder than that of the films. The first film (21) and the second film (22) are thermally fused together at the four corners of these films. The thermally fused locations are indicated at (20a). When used in the cover of the probe of an infrared thermometer, the second film (22) is made of a material transparent to infrared radiation. When the tip of the probe (12) is pressed into the ring (23) from above the second film (22), the probe (12) is covered while the second film (22) is folded back. The fitting on of the cover is completed when the ring (23) fits into an annular groove (12a) of the probe (12).

    • An upper portion of a case body (1) of a radiant-temperature clinical thermometer is integrally formed to include a supporting frame (11) to which a supporting cylinder (2) is secured horizontally. The tip of the supporting cylinder (2) projects outwardly and a radiant-temperature sensor (3) for sensing heat rays from the external ear is secured to the end face of the tip. A cylindrical probe (4) is supported on the supporting cylinder (2) so as to be free to slide, and the cylindrical probe (4) is biased by a coil spring (42) in a direction that thrusts the probe outwardly. A flange (41) on the base end of the cylindrical probe (4) abuts against a stopper (12) of the supporting frame (11), whereby the extended position of the cylindrical probe (4) is determined. A cover ( 9 ) is attached to the tip portion of the cylindrical probe (4). When the tip portion of the cylindrical probe (4) is inserted slightly into the orifice of the ear and pressed, the cylindrical probe (4) retracts and a lever (51) of a microswitch (5), which is attached to the supporting frame (11), is pressed by the flange (41) of the cylindrical probe (4). The switch (5) produces an ON signal as a result. The ON signal is applied as a measurement-start trigger signal to a temperature measuring circuit provided within the case body (1). Thus, the timing at which temperature measurement starts is always fixed so as to reduce a variance in measured temperature.
