    • Disclosed is a weather strip comprising: (a) a solid rubber made retainer; (b) a plurality of retainer lips projecting from the inside of the retainer, the retainer lips being arranged to oppose each other and adapted such that the flange of an automobile body is inserted into the space formed by the opposing retainer lips; and (c) a projection which is provided on the end of at least one pair of the retainer lips among the plurality of retainer lips and projects toward the innermost surface of the retainer so as to be pressure-contacted by the flange of the automobile body. The pair of retainer lips having the projection come into contact with each other at the portion where the projections are provided and open gradually toward the open end of the retainer. Two pairs of retainer lips are provided inside the retainer, toward the open end and the innermost surface opposing the open end, respectively, and the pair of retainer lips having the projection is that which is located close to the innermost surface of the retainer.

    • A weather strip to be installed around an opening of an automobile, has a trim portion of a letter U-shaped section, which is composed of parallel side walls and a bottom wall connecting the side walls, and a seal portion projecting from an outer surface of one of the parallel side walls, which is positioned on the outside of the automobile when the trim portion is mounted on a flange formed around the opening. The bottom wall is inclined in such a direction as to make an acute angle with the one side wall. In the weather strip wherein the bottom wall is inclined with respect to the side walls, the trim portion can be prevented from twisting and leaning even when being curved along the corner portion, and mounted thereon. And at this time, good sealing properties can be maintained together with good external appearance.

    • A process for forming linear, thermoplastic weatherseals into a bend position is provided which avoids buckling of the thinner surfaces of the weatherseal material. The process involves the use of a support insert which supports the thinner surfaces during the bending operation, and thus assists in preventing the deformation of the thinner weatherseal surfaces. The support is preferable constructed of a material which is unaffected by temperatures higher than the heat-deformation temperature used to set the weatherseal material into a bent configuration, and thus, the support insert retains its linear shape when removed from the bending press, and therefore, can be reused. An improved process for manufacturing bent thermoplastic weatherseal material results.

    • An outer belt molding is provided for a motor vehicle door having a door panel defining a window opening. The outer belt molding includes an elongated main body adapted to be attached to the door panel along a lower edge of the window opening. The elongated main body includes a mounting portion including a vertical segment abutting a portion of the door panel and an outer segment extending out from the vertical segment abutting another portion of the door panel. The outer belt molding also includes fastening means extending between at least one of the outer and vertical segments and the door panel to fixedly secure the outer belt molding to the door panel.
