    • A motor positioning method includes steps of: providing a frame of a disk drive apparatus having locating holes spaced apart from each other, the locating holes being located in accordance with a predetermined positional relationship between the locating holes and a target position; placing a positioning jig on a base surface, the positioning jig having a first connecting portion with a diameter corresponding to a reference opening at the target position and second connecting portions with diameters corresponding to respective ones of the locating holes, the second connecting portions and the first connecting portion being located in accordance with the positional relationship; placing the frame onto the positioning jig so that the second connecting portions are fitted into the locating holes; and placing a board having a drive motor, a shaft and the reference opening at the target position, onto the frame attached to the jig so that the first connecting portion is fitted into the reference opening, thus positioning the shaft at the target position within the apparatus.

    • An index pulse generating system utilizes two periodic motor speed signals, one generated by a speed sensor coil actuated upon by a permanent magnet rotor mounted to a turntable, and the other generated by one of magnetoelectric converters acted upon by another permanent magnet rotor mounted to the turntable as a part of a disk drive motor. The two motor speed signals are translated respectively into two series of discrete motor speed pulses. One of the two series of motor speed pulses are produced at rates of two different predetermined numbers per complete revolution of the turntable. The two predetermined numbers have no common measure so that an AND gate or the like inputting the two series of motor speed pulses puts out at least one pulse during each turntable revolution, with the output pulse being representative of a specific angular position of the turntable.

    • A disk drive with a turntable for supporting a flexible magnetic disk thereon has a spindle extending centrally through the turntable for engaging a first opening formed centrally in a sheet metal hub of the disk, and a drive pin arranged eccentrically of the turntable for driving the disk by engaging a second opening formed eccentrically in the disk hub. The drive pin support is made of a sheet metal support of resilient material and has an arcuate shape which is mounted flat to an underside of the turntable for deflection in a plan normal to that of the turntable. In view of the reduction of the space required for the deflection of the drive pin support and the total thickness or height of the disk drive, the drive pin is erected on an offset head portion of the support. The offset head portion together with the drive pin there-on is received in a clearance opening in the turntable so that a less space is required for the deflection of the drive pin support between the turntable and an underlying part such as a stator of a disk drive motor than that in the prior art.

The motor includes a start-up operation circuit with a sensor starting period that increases a rotational speed until reaching to a first predetermined rotational speed; and a control device that controls operation of the motor as that shift to synchronized operation is performed when a rotational speed of a permanent magnetic rotor is reached to a second predetermined rotational speed nearby a synchronized rotational speed but not exceeding the synchronized rotational speed, and when the rise and fall of detected signals of the position sensor and the zero-cross point of AC current are approximately correspondent to each other.
