    • Disclosed is a fringe field switching liquid crystal display (FFS-LCD) and a method for manufacturing the same. The FFS-LCD comprises: a lower substrate; a plurality of gate bus lines extending along a selected direction on the lower substrate; a plurality of data bus lines disposed on the lower substrate in a manner such that they are crossed with the plurality of gate bus lines, for defining a unit pixel; a gate insulating film for insulating the gate bus lines and the data bus lines from each other; a thin film transistor located at a place where the gate bus lines and the data bus lines are crossed with each other; a pixel electrode formed on the gate insulating film, brought into contact with the thin film transistor and disposed in a space of the unit pixel; a counter electrode overlapped on the pixel electrode, the counter electrode cooperating with the pixel electrode for forming a fringe field which actuates all liquid crystal molecules existing on the pixel electrode and the counter electrode; and a passivation layer intervened between the pixel electrode and the counter electrode, wherein the pixel electrode and the counter electrode are made from a transparent conductive material and the plurality of gate bus lines are made as a metal film including aluminum.

    • Liquid crystal display having fast response time and preventing color shift is disclosed. The liquid crystal display comprises: a lower substrate having a plurality of gate bus lines disposed parallel to each other, a plurality of data bus lines disposed perpendicular to the gate bus lines and defining matrix type sub pixels together with the gate bus lines, a thin film transistor provided adjacent to an intersection of the gate bus line and the data bus line, and a pixel electrode connected to the thin film transistor and disposed within the sub pixel; an upper substrate opposed to the lower substrate with a selected distance and having a counter electrode, the counter electrode formed at a portion corresponding to the sub pixel and forming an electric field together with the pixel electrode; a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between and having a plurality of liquid crystal molecules; a first homeotropic alignment layer and a second homeotropic alignment layer formed at inner face of the lower substrate and at inner face of the upper substrate respectively; and a first polarizing plate and a second polarizing plate attached at outer face of the lower substrate and at outer face of the upper substrate respectively, wherein the electric field formed between the counter electrode and the pixel electrode is formed as an oblique line with respect to the lower substrate surface, and is formed as a diagonal line having a symmetry with respect to the data bus line and the gate bus line.

The liquid crystal display comprises: upper and lower substrates opposed and spaced apart, wherein homogeneous alignment layers are formed at inner surfaces of both substrates; a liquid crystal layer including a plurality of liquid crystal molecules and interposed between the upper and lower substrates; a gate bus line and a data bus line formed between the lower substrate and the homogeneous alignment layer in a matrix configuration thereby defining unit pixel regions; transparent counter and pixel electrodes for driving the liquid crystal molecules formed at a unit pixel region in the lower substrate; and a thin film transistor disposed at an intersection of the gate bus line and the data bus line, and switching the pixel electrode, wherein, when a voltage is applied to the pixel electrode, there are formed electric fields respectively parallel to the gate bus line and the data bus line simultaneously and the liquid crystal molecules on and between the counter and pixel electrodes are all driven by the electric fields.

    • Disclosed is a Fringe Field Switching (FFS) mode Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) including lower substrate, an upper substrate and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the substrates. Each pixel region is defined by gate lines and data lines formed to cross each other on the lower substrate. Switching devices are disposed at intersections of the gate lines and the data lines. The FFS mode LCD includes a transparent pixel electrode, and a transparent common electrode disposed apart from the transparent pixel electrode by an insulating layer interposed therebetween to adjust a transmittance by applying an electric field to the liquid crystal layer. A metal line of a specific thickness is formed to be electrically connected with the transparent common electrode on or under the transparent common electrode of a non-opening region in which the gate lines and the data lines are formed.
