    • In an energy-saving-operation recommending system, a total energy consumption of plural facilities during passage of one material to be rolled through a rolling line is calculated, and the total energy consumption is divided by a width and a length of the material to be rolled before rolling to calculate an energy consumption reference value that defines energy consumption per unit width and unit length of the material to be rolled. The energy consumption reference value is stored in association with a steel grade and a target post-rolling plate thickness of the material to be rolled. An energy consumption reference value corresponding to a steel grade and a target post-rolling plate thickness of a material to be next rolled on the rolling line is obtained. The energy consumption reference value is multiplied by a width and a length of the material to be next rolled to calculate predicted energy consumption.

    • A motor speed control device for a rolling mill, which includes a rolling roll that rolls a metal material, a roll rotation shaft directly connected to the rolling roll, a motor rotation shaft that transmits power to the roll rotation shaft, and a motor that drives the motor rotation shaft, includes: a non-contact type speed sensor arranged at a position close to the rolling roll with spacing to a circumferential surface of the roll rotation shaft to detect a roll rotation shaft angular speed of the roll rotation shaft; and a speed controller that controls a speed of the motor based on a comparison value between an actual value and a target angular speed of the rolling roll so that the actual value coincides with the target angular speed.     • A power management device managing electric power in a load facility group including plural load facilities includes: a detector that detects an instantaneous value of power consumption for each of the plural load facilities; a forecaster that forecasts an instantaneous value of power consumption for each of the plural load facilities; an operation unit that obtains a difference between the value detected by the detector and the value forecasted by the forecaster, for each of the plural load facilities; a controller that outputs a storage command or a discharge command based on whether the difference obtained by the operation unit is positive or negative; and a storage/discharge device that stores/discharges electricity based on the storage command or the discharge command output by the controller. The power management device can respond to instantaneous and steep power consumption amount change in a load facility to enable efficient use of power.
