    • An information signal recording apparatus having a rotary head for recording information signals on a tape-shaped recording medium, a cylindrical member for supporting the rotary head, and having a peripheral surface, a head driving motor for rotating the rotary head at a predetermined speed, a tape loading arrangement for shifting the recording medium between a first position and a second position wherein when the medium is at the first position it does not contact the peripheral surface, while the medium is aligned with the peripheral surface when at the second position, a trigger switch operated by a manual operation for instructing a recording start by the rotary head, a control circuit for controlling the head driving motor and the tape loading arrangement, and a mode setting arrangement for setting the apparatus among a plurality of modes including a first mode in which the control circuit controls the head driving motor and the tape loading arrangement so that the rotary head rotates at the predetermined speed and the recording medium is at the second position, and in which the trigger switch is able to instruct the recording start, and a second mode in which the control circuit controls the head driving motor and the tape loading arrangement so that the rotary head does not rotate and the recording medium is at the second position, and in which the trigger switch is able to instruct the recording start.

    • A video system comprising a video camera and a recording device to record video signals obtained by the video camera. The recording device includes a video tape recorder (VTR) which may be combined with the video camera when recording and otherwise may be combined with a reproduction unit. Mode switches in the VTR are changed over depending on the combination desired. When the VTR is used with the camera, the combination records sound, video signal and controls signals on a tape wound around a drum. A system control circuit controls various motors and solenoids control operation of the VTR. Power supply to the system is controlled by a power source switch in the VTR, which element provides "OFF", "STANDBY I" and "STANDBY II" modes. Delay elements operate in the two standby modes. When the power source switch is in either standby mode, loading is done automatically. One standby mode provides power to a rotating system and the other mode provides no power. The delay elements provide different delay times for each mode so that triggering of the camera can be made with due consideration for the start up time of the rotating system. The built-in delays are effective in conserving power.

    • There is disclosed an information signal reproducing apparatus for reproducing information signals from a magnetic record bearing medium on which information signals are recorded with pilot signals of four different frequencies recurrently superimposed thereon. The apparatus comprises magnetic heads which are arranged to reproduce said information signals and said pilot signals by tracing said magnetic record bearing medium and an erasing head which is arranged to trace said magnetic record bearing medium in equal tracing direction to that of said magnetic heads and which is able to erase at least the information signals recorded on said magnetic record bearing medium and to reproduce said pilot signals. At the time of controlling a tracing position of said magnetic heads relative to said magnetic record bearing medium, four local pilot signals having the same frequencies as those of said pilot signals, respectively, are recurrently generated in a predetermined rotation. The state of said pilot signals reproduced by said magnetic heads is monitored, using said four local pilot signals and the tracing position on said medium of said magnetic heads is controlled, depending upon the state of said pilot signals. The level of a specific pilot signal from among said pilot signals reproduced by said erasing head is detected and the generating sequence of the local pilot signals is changed over, depending upon a result of such detention. According to such construction it is possible to effect the tracking control with high precision and high response speed.
