    • A frequency synthesizer device that includes two modulation paths and suitably adjusts the amplitude of a control voltage that is outputted from a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) to a voltage-controlled oscillator. The frequency synthesizer device is provided with a voltage-controlled oscillator, a programmable frequency divider, a frequency phase comparator, a DAC, a switch and a modulation frequency displacement correction circuit. The voltage-controlled oscillator oscillates at an oscillation frequency depending on an input voltage. The programmable frequency divider frequency-divides a signal from the voltage-controlled oscillator. The frequency phase comparator outputs a phase difference between the frequency-divided signal and a reference clock. The DAC outputs an adjustment voltage. The switch connects the voltage-controlled oscillator to a reference voltage power source at a time of correction of the adjustment voltage. The modulation frequency displacement correction circuit specifies adjustment data that corresponds to the adjustment voltage corresponding to the target frequency displacement.

    • A server receives an acquisition request for visual content, such as desired text or image content, from a client terminal via a communication network, and retrieves, from a database, data of the visual content requested by the client terminal. Then, by analyzing the visual content, by referring to an appropriate table or otherwise, the server determines music content or effect tone content to be imparted to the requested visual content in associated relation to specific substance of the requested visual content. Then, the server retrieves data of the determined music content or effect tone content from a database, and transmits the data of the visual content, along with the data of the music content or effect tone content, to the client terminal. On the basis of the data transmitted by the server, the client terminal can not only visually display the requested visual content but also audibly reproduce the music content or effect tone content. The client terminal may select appropriate music content or effect tone content from a memory of the client terminal and associate the thus-selected appropriate music content or effect tone content with the visual content received from the server.

    • Multi-jointed robot for use in a clean room specifically applicable during the production of semiconductor devices where contaminant material must be eliminated to the extent possible. The robot includes a sectional body defined at least in part by a plurality of arm members wherein a plurality of pivotal joints are provided to pivotably connect adjacent arm members with respect to each other. The arm members and the pivotal joints are hollow such that an uninterrupted air passage is provided in the robot extending through each of the pivotal joints and the arm members of the sectional body thereof. The robot includes a terminal arm member located at one end of the sectional body which has an opening on the exterior surface thereof defining one end of the air passage through the robot. A rotary fan is mounted in the robot at the other end of the air passage and is operable upon rotation to exhaust air through the air passage within the interior of the sectional body of the robot. The air flow along the passage within the interior of the sectional body of the robot carries any contaminant particles if present due to frictional wear between moving components of the pivotal joints along the air passage to the exterior of the sectional body of the robot, thereby removing the particles as a source of contamination.
