    • A speed control device for a sewing machine which is adapted to control a speed of the machine motor. The device includes a plurality of photo-conductive fibers arranged in two sets, one set being optically positioned opposite to another. The device also includes a light source which transmits the light to the photo-conductive fibers, a photo-conductive element which receives the light from the fibers and a phase-controlling element connected to the photo-conductive element and to the machine motor. An interrupting plate secured to a step plate of the sewing machine is provided in the device which is adapted for reciprocable movement between the optically sensitive ends of aforementioned two sets of the photo-conductive fibers. The photo-conductive element generates an ignition current in the phase-controlling element in response to a predetermined amount of light transmitted from one set of fibers connected to the light source to another one whereby the phase-controlling element effects the machine motor to change the speed thereof.

    • A device for automatically adjusting the tension of a lower thread, which comprises a lower thread bobbin arranged on a bottom plate of a bobbin carrier turnably carrying the bobbin, a loop taker mounted on a magnetic shaft, and an energizing coil arranged around the magnetic shaft and providing together with said bottom plate and magnetic shaft a path of magnetic flux. The device is further provided with a detector detecting the consumed amount of the bobbin thread and a control circuit for energizing the coil when the lower thread is wound to the maximum capacity of the bobbin, interrupting the light of the detector. The detector operates the control circuit to decrease the amount of electric current applied to the energizing coil so as to set the lower thread tension back to its initial predetermined value.

    • In a sewing machine which stores stitch control signals in an electronic memory composed with a microcomputer, incorporated therein are a stitch selecting device, a blindstitching depth setting device and a blindstitching width setting device which are both independently set by operation of said stitch selecting device. When a blindstitching pattern is selected, said depth setting device and width setting device are made operative, and needle dropping left positions are set by said depth setting device, and right dropping positions or whole amplitudes are set by said width setting device, and they are input to the memory for forming the blindstitching patterns by the stitching control signal of the blindstitching pattern.

    • A printer of a wire-dot impact type is provided forwardly of the housing an inlet opening for introducing a printing paper to the inside and has an outlet opening provided at a rear side of the housing for discharging the printing paper to the outside. The printing paper is transported by cooperation of a tractor arranged near the outlet opening and a feed roller arranged near the inlet opening, to thereby run inside the housing in substantially a straight path of travel from the inlet opening to the outlet opening, during which the printing paper is printed by means of a platen and a printing head, both provided between the feed roller and the tractor. A pair of guide members are provided between the feed roller and the printing unit and between the printing unit and the tractor, respectively, to thereby feed the printing paper along the straight path of travel.

    • A detachable and slideable fabric guide is used in combination with a sewing machine and adapted to bridge a sewing machine bed of a certain width, the fabric guide comprising an elongated main body made of an elastic material with sides which comprise vertical opposite faces, at least one of which is used to contact a fabric edge during stitching operation. The opposite ends of the main body are respectively curved down to integrally form hook portions which are, terminated with opposite abutments or grips each extending laterally of the main body. The opposite abutments normally define therebetween a predetermined distance a little smaller than the width of the sewing machine bed, which distance may be enlarged due to an outward flexing of the hook portions. One of the vertical faces of the main body is provided with a pair of walls protruding laterally therefrom to define therebetween a groove extending the substantial length of the elongated body.
