摘要： Pyrazolone magenta dye-forming couplers having a particular arylthio coupling-off group enhance the photographic properties and improve the manufacturing and handling characteristics of materials and processes employing such couplers. The coupler contains an N-phenyl group, a 3-anilino group and a 4-(arylthio) coupling off group containing a particular aryloxymethylacylamino group as an ortho substituent. 摘要： A non-infrared sensitized low silver photographic element with a non-light sensitive layer, preferably an antihalation layer, containing a diphenylaminocyclopentene heptacyanine benzothiazolium infrared dye where the benzothiazolium groups have electron-withdrawing substituents on the phenyl ring and solubilzed alkyl groups on the nitrogen. The infrared dye can be present as a liquid-crystalline dispersion. This class of infrared dyes form J-aggregated species in a liquid-crystalline or a solid particle dispersion with high IR density and low visible absorbance.

摘要： The invention provides a color photographic element comprising at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer or a non silver-containing light-insensitive layer, in which at least one of these layers contains a colorless heterocyclic compound having either one or two hetero atoms in the ring or ring system, being other than an imidazole compound, that undergoes less than 10% chemical or redox reaction directly with oxidized developer and which has a partition coefficient to enable the photographic speed of the element to be increased by at least 0.03 stop without increasing granularity, compared to the same element without the compound. The heterocyclic compounds increase speed without a concomitant increase in size of the light-sensitive silver halide grains.

摘要： This invention relates to a method of spectrally sensitizing a silver halide emulsion comprising the following steps in the following order a) providing a silver halide emulsion comprising tabular silver halide grains having an inner dye layer adjacent to the silver halide grain, said dye layer comprising at least one dye (Dye 1) that is capable of spectrally sensitizing silver halide, b) adding to the emulsion at least one dye (Dye 2) capable of providing a second dye layer adjacent to the inner dye layer, and c) adding to the emulsion a non-cationic surfactant or a scavenger for oxidized developer, or a combination of the two, to form a silver halide emulsion comprising silver halide grains having associated therewith two dye layers, wherein the dye layers are held together by non-covalent forces or by in situ bond formation; the outer dye layer adsorbs light at equal or higher energy than the inner dye layer; and the energy emission wavelength of the outer dye layer overlaps with the energy absorption wavelength of the inner dye layer.
