    • An integrated circuit including a DC sensing power-up reset (PUR) circuit and method for generating a reset signal. The PUR circuit comprises a first terminal for receiving a supply voltage and a second terminal for receiving a reference voltage corresponding to a low logic state. A first transistor is coupled between the first terminal and a first node, wherein the first transistor switches on when the supply voltage is rising and exceeds a rising trip point voltage. A second transistor is coupled between the first terminal and the first node, and switches off when the supply voltage falls below a falling trip point voltage which is less than the rising trip point voltage. A first inverter is coupled at an input terminal to the first node and at an output terminal to a second node. A resistor is coupled between the first node and the second terminal. The resistor pulls the first node down to the reference voltage while the first and second transistors are both off and limits current flowing through the first and second transistors while either or both of the first and second transistors is on.

    • A method and apparatus are provided for searching for information on an Intranet or other suitable private network implemented in a corporation or other business entity or organization, featuring at least one agent in the Intranet that scans email, messaging and/or Intranet resources and provides information in response to a search request from a requesting node. In operation, one or more agents scans the dynamic flow of messaging for search terms and level of authority and issues queries on behalf of the requesting node in order to regulate the secrecy and privacy of the information on the Intranet. In effect, the present invention provides a set of software agents that scan email, messaging or intranet resources during transmission and after storage on the Intranet. These agents issue queries on behalf of verified, authenticated and/or authorised individuals, to messaging accounts related to those messages or documents. These agents also respond to queries from agents in the automatic mode, on behalf of verified, authorised responders. In manual mode, these agents verify the responder's identity and authorisation upon response.

    • A line powered data access arrangement (DAA) is disclosed which adaptively allows proper operation with power supplied from a telephone line as conditions warrant, while at the same time satisfying the relevant requirements of many countries. In the line powered codec, a startup procedure for the international line powered codec uses register settings, e.g., country-specific register settings, which are powered and maintained from the low voltage side (e.g., from the PC or modem side) of the line powered codec. In this way, even during low line power conditions the programmed state of the line powered codec can be maintained, thus a default condition will not necessarily returned to by the line powered codec upon reset due to a power loss in the telephone line. In another aspect, a charge storage device such as a charge capacitor is charged from a charge pump formed from a differential clock signal from the low voltage side. A current and voltage detection module in the line powered codec is always powered from the telephone line. Upon detection of an off-hook signal or a power down condition, the current detection module determines if/when the current and voltage on the telephone line is sufficient to power certain circuits on the line powered codec. If sufficient power is not present, the line powered codec does not power up. However, the line powered codec will power up if sufficient current is detected. In another aspect, a plurality of power rails may be provided. A first power rail may be associated with the line power, a second power rail may be associated with a low voltage side power source, e.g., a charge storage device. A third (and other) power rails may be switchably connected to either the first power rail or second power rail as line power conditions and on-hook/off-hook conditions warrant.
