    • This invention relates to a multilayer silver halide photographic element, generally processed with phenylenediamine based developer solutions, comprising a support bearing a cyan dye image-forming unit comprised of at least one red-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith at least one cyan dye-forming coupler, a magenta dye image-forming unit comprising at least one green-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith at least one magenta dye-forming coupler, and a yellow dye image-forming unit comprising at least one blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith at least one yellow dye-forming coupler, wherein at least one layer additionally contains a 2-substituted-5-amino-1-napthol DIR according to Formula (I): wherein: X is chosen from among hydrogen, halogen atoms, an alkyl group with 6 carbon atoms or less or a N-substituted carbamoyl group where the N substituent is either an alkyl group with 6 carbon atoms or less or an aryl group with 8 total carbon atoms or less; R is a carbonyl or sulfonyl group; and INH is an inhibitor of silver development. It has been found that such 2-substituted-5-amino-1-napthol based DIRs have improved properties and can provide a conventional silver halide photographic element with excellent image structure and color reproduction.

    • A ball valve having a two component body with a bonnet section formed integrally with one of the body components. A first body member defines a first flow passage and a first end of a valve chamber. The second body member forms a second flow passage and a second end of the valve chamber. Formed about the first flow passage is a first sleeve member which extends axially into the valve chamber. A cylindrical stem receiving chamber is also formed in the first body member and extends radially outwardly from the valve chamber to open to the exterior of the first body member through an inwardly facing shoulder. Inner and outer radially spaced sleeves are formed integrally with the second body member and extend into the valve chamber circumferentially about the second flow passage. The inner sleeve is aligned with the first sleeve member formed about the first flow passage on the first body member. A valve ball is mounted in the chamber in axial alignment with the first and second flow passages. Seat rings are positioned about the first and second sleeve members and biased into engagement with the valve ball. An operating stem is provided for rotating the ball. The operating stem is positioned axially of the stem receiving chamber and has a pair of spaced, outwardly extending integral flanges located axially inwardly of the shoulder. Stem seal means are located between the pair of flanges and a resilient bearing ring is located between said shoulder and the outermost flange of said pair of flanges.

    • A power generating assembly in which a portion of the heat energy in a stream of fluid such as warm or hot air is extracted and transformed to rotary power as a body of low boiling liquid is recirculated through a closed path. Vapor of the liquid liquifies when subjected to a pressure greater than a first pressure and a temperature lower than a first temperature. The vapor is superheated by the heat energy above-identified to a high pressure at which it actuates a reciprocating mechanism to produce rotary power. Vapor discharging from the reciprocating mechanism is allowed to expand adiabatically in a first confined space, and be cooled. A compressor draws vapor from the first confined space and discharges the same into a second confined space at a pressure greater than the first pressure. The temperature of the vapor in the second confined space is lowered below that of the first temperature whereupon the vapor assumes the liquid form. The liquid discharges sequentially through an expansion valve into a pre-heater in the second confined space to transform to vapor. The heat necessary for the vaporization of liquid in the pre-heater is withdrawn from the vapor in the second confined space, and this withdrawn heat lowering the temperature of the vapor in the second confined space below the first temperature. Vapor flows from the pre-heater to a boiler where it is super heated to a desired high pressure prior to discharge to the reciprocating mechanism. Heat for the boiler is from the stream of fluid previously identified.

    • An implant injector for animals is adjustable for implant insertion depth. The distance, that the injector needle or cannula, extends past the nose of the injector is adjustable. The insertion depth adjustment is accomplished by moving the nose of the injector relative to the tip of the cannula that extends past the nose. In addition to adjusting the insertion depth, the cannula or needle, may also be rotated to a plurality of positions relative to the injector handle.A spring loaded plunger, when released by a release button, will push the implant out the end of the cannula as the operator withdraws the cannula from the animal. The release button is designed as a safety trigger to avoid premature activation of the plunger during insertion of the needle.Needles, or cannulas of various diameters and lengths, may be interchanged in the injector. Also, the spring loaded plunger for expelling the implant may be removed allowing the operator to replace the plunger with a different diameter and length plunger, if desired, to match different size cannulas.
