    • An impact-impeding structure includes a pane which extends along a plane and has a front and a rear side, and an impact-impeding frame for the pane. The frame may include an outer frame member and an inner frame member received in the outer frame member, the frame members being provided at least at one of the front and rear sides of the pane with impact-impeding elements, and defining with one another a labyrinthine gap situated at a region of the impact-impeding elements and including a plurality of steps extending at least substantially parallel to the plane. The parts of the gap which interconnect the steps extend at an angle deviating from the normal to the plane of the pane and may have different widths which may decrease from the exterior to the interior of the frame arrangement. In the alternative or in addition, at least one frame of the frame arrangement may be provided with a plurality of internal chambers which are delimited by lateral limiting surfaces that extend at an acute angle with repect to the plane of the pane and which may accommodate respective inserts, or such frame may include a plurality of parts that contact each other at contact surfaces which extend at least in part at an acute angle with respect to the plane of the pane, such as by extending along sawtooth-shaped courses.

    • A composite frame particularly for windows, doors or the like is composed of two metal sub-frames spaced apart from each other. Each of the sub-frame is formed with outwardly extending flanges to define the respective recesses therebetween. A pair of elongated insulating members are inserted into said respective recesses to interconnect the sub-frames to each other. The insulating members are provided with grooves of circular shape to receive the outwardly extending flanges which are deformed to engage the insulating members. At least one elongated gripping element is provided in the assembly which is inserted into a recess formed in each insulating member; the gripping element bears against the respective one of the outwardly extending flanges thereby increasing the coefficient of friction of the insulating member relative to the metal sub-frames.A method of inserting the gripping element which may be made of wire or of elastic cord is disclosed in the application, which gripping element is placed into the respective recess provided in the insulating member.

    • A fire resistant frame structure for a facade or glass roof, includes a column profile, and a beam profile connectable to the column profile to form a support construction and so positioned relative to the column profile as to form spaces for receiving fire protection glasswork. The column profile and the beam rofile are each made of aluminum and comprised of a supporting core member for receiving static loads, an enclosure surrounding the core member, connecting members joining the core member to the enclosure at formation of a hollow chamber, and adsorbent material received in the hollow chamber and having heat absorbing and hydrophilic properties. The connecting members are formed by bridge members which provide a low heat conductivity to effect a low heat flux from the enclosure to the core member. Thus, crystal water can be released when the adsorbent material is subject to a certain temperature level to thereby cool the metallic framework.
