摘要： A surface acoustic wave resonator includes a base plate made of glass and a layer of piezoelectric material which has a plurality of strips extending parallel to each other for forming a reflector. A surface acoustic wave excited from a transducer reflects at each of the strips. The reflectance of such surface acoustic wave is improved by the arrangement of the strips and the thickness of the layer. On the other hand, the temperature coefficient of the resonance frequency is also improved by the arrangement of the strips and the thickness of the layer, and by the amount of the alkali metal oxide contained in the base plate, and further by the thickness of silicon oxide film laminated on the surface of the base plate.

摘要： An optical switch usable for an optical circuit adapted to be operated by utilizing the electro-optical effect inherent therein. A pair of electrodes are arranged in spaced relation on an optical wave guide which is branched to branch optical wave guides and transmission of light beams is controlled by applying a certain voltage to the electrodes. Both the optical wave guide and the branch optical wave guides are made of electro-optical material. Specifically, the optical wave guides are constituted by a layer of PLZT ((Pb, La) (Zr, Ti) O.sub.3) based thin film which is formed by epitaxial growth on a base plate located on the C-plane of sapphire (.alpha.-alumina). The switch is effective for controlling the transmission of light beams.

摘要： The invention detects the weight of an object by detecting the change in electrostatic capacity due to a change in the distance between electrodes caused by deflection of flat plates, by using a pressure sensitive sensor having flat plates composed of two elastic insulators stuck together across a proper gap and extending parallel to one another, with electrodes provided at the confronting sides of the flat plates, and by transferring the load of the object to be measured to the sensor through a load support. The gap between the electrodes of this pressure sensitive sensor is enclosed, and a hole is provided to allow air to pass into and out of the gap. Furthermore, the surface of the pressure sensitive sensor is coated with a water-repellent substance to eliminate current loss due to dust or dew deposited on the surface of the electrodes. As a result, the weight may be measured accurately without being effected by temperature changes or humidity.

A driving motor rotates the supporting shaft, and an elastic member supports the supporting shaft. A load detecting device converts the load of the object, transmitted in the supporting direction of the rotatable supporting shaft through the elastic member into a given electrically physical amount and a weight detecting circuit integrates to obtain the average of the electrically physical amount while the shaft rotates, so that the weight of the object is detected.
