    • A lubricating structure in a piston type compressor has a housing, a device for being lubricated and a rotary shaft. The housing defines an accommodating chamber and a suction pressure region. The device for being lubricated is located in the accommodating chamber. The rotary shaft is rotatably supported by the housing. The rotary shaft includes a supply passage, a communicating port, a lubricating hole and a flow guiding portion. The supply passage transfers fluid that contains lubricant. The communicating port interconnects the supply passage and the suction pressure region. The lubricating hole interconnects the accommodating chamber and the supply passage. The flow guiding portion is formed on a circumferential surface of the supply passage and is located near the lubricating hole. The flow guiding portion guides the lubricant toward the lubricating hole.

    • In a piston type compressor, a housing includes a cylinder head which defines a discharge chamber and a cooling chamber. The cooling chamber located adjacent to the discharge chamber surrounds the discharge chamber. The housing also defines a suction chamber, a compression chamber, and a crank chamber. The cooling chamber is isolated from the suction chamber. Gas is introduced from outside of the housing into the suction chamber. A rotary shaft is rotatably supported in the housing. The cam is accommodated in the crank chamber. A piston is operatively coupled to the rotary shaft through the cam. Rotation of the rotary shaft is converted to reciprocation of the piston. A seal member shuts communication between the cooling chamber and an atmosphere outside the compressor to seal an inside of the cylinder head. An introducing passage interconnects the cooling chamber and the crank chamber.

    • A scroll type compressor has a rotary shaft, a fixed scroll member, a movable scroll member and a rib. The fixed scroll member has a fixed end plate and a fixed scroll wall. The fixed end plate has first and second sides. The fixed scroll wall is formed on the first side. The movable scroll member has a movable end plate and a movable scroll wall. The movable scroll wall is formed on the movable end plate. The movable scroll member is adapted to make an orbital motion in accordance with the rotation of the rotary shaft whereby a compression chamber to decrease the volume of the compression chamber with the orbital motion of the movable scroll member is formed between the fixed scroll member and the movable scroll member. The rib is provided on the second side so as to extend behind the inner end of the fixed scroll wall.
