    • Mobile nodes are allowed to move around within an intermittent communication environment. A mobile node wirelessly communicates with an access node when approaching the access node, and stores data. The access node stores an action history for each mobile node, and generates a forwarder list in association with a destination node, based on action histories of the mobile nodes. The forwarder list stores one or more identifies each identifying a first mobile node in the order of an arrival probability indicating a probability that the first mobile node succeeds in delivering the data to the destination node. The access node selects second mobile nodes that are to carry the data to the destination node, based on the forwarder list, and transfers the data to one of the second mobile nodes when a communication link is established between the access node and the one of the second mobile nodes.

    • Method and compositions for reducing the inflammation after cytokine exposure of an islet cell transplant without affecting the viability and potency are disclosed herein. The present invention describes a composition comprising Withaferin A (WA), a steroidal lactone derived from Withania somnifera to effectively block NF-kB activation in beta cells, minimize cytokine-induced cell death and improve survival of transplanted islets. The method of the present invention involves identifying a subject having islet cells in need of treatment; and providing a effective amount of a Withaferin A composition disposed in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier in an amount sufficient to reduce the inflammation after cytokine exposure without affecting the viability and potency of the islet cell population.

    • A fuel cell system of the invention includes a tubular switching member 70 with slits 70a to shift their position and thereby vary an opening area of outlets of oxidizing gas conduits 36 in respective unit fuel cells 30 constituting a fuel cell stack 20. The system further includes a drive roller 74 and a stepping motor 79 that function to change over the position of the slits 70a. An electronic control unit controls rotation of the stepping motor 79 to actuate the tubular switching member 70 first to narrow the opening area of the outlets of the oxidizing gas conduits 36 to or toward 0 and then to widen the opening area of the outlets of the oxidizing gas conduits 36, thereby generating pulsation in the oxidizing gas conduits 36. Water droplets flocculated in the oxidizing gas conduits 36 are thus discharged to the outlets with high efficiency. The structure of the embodiment does not require any bypass in the respective unit fuel cells 30. The characteristic structure of the invention uses the frame of the unit fuel cell 30 equivalent to the existing one and does not substantially increase the size of the fuel cell stack 20.
