摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a latent image forming device that forms a latent image on the image bearing member, a developing device that develops latent image on said image bearing member to a toner image with a two-component developer, and a toner density detecting device that detects toner density of the two-component developer in which the toner image is formed and outputted as a visible image onto a transfer member. A control device is provided for agitating the developer for a predetermined time period during an initial setting is performed for the developer, detecting a toner density of said developer after the predetermined agitation, and performing an abnormal process when a result of the detection is out of the predetermined range. A corresponding method recovers from a deterioration of an amount of charge of the toner and decreased bulk of the developer, and includes the steps of detecting a developer amount with an unused-state detection switch, detecting an output value of a toner density detecting sensor, agitating the developer, measuring an agitating time period, stopping the agitating operation indicating warning, and indicating error message.

摘要： An image forming apparatus including an image bearing member, a latent image forming device which forms a latent image on the image bearing member, a developing device which develops the latent image using a two-component developer including a toner and a carrier and a toner supplying device which supplies toner into the developing device. A developer agitating device agitates developer in the developing device and a toner-density detecting device detects a toner density of developer in the developing device. A toner-density control device controls the toner density by operating the toner supplying device on the basis of a detected result according to the toner-density detecting device. A memory device stores resultant value of the toner density detected by the toner-density detecting device during image forming operations. The toner-density detecting device detects the toner density in a warm-up operation before starting the image forming operation by the image forming apparatus. The toner-density control device changes an amount of the toner supply which is supplied by the toner supplying device after starting the image forming operation according to a result of a comparison of the detected toner density in the warm-up operation with the detected result stored in the memory device. The toner-density control device changes an amount of the toner supply which is supplied by the toner supplying device after starting the image forming operation according to the resultant value of comparison of a result of a detection.

The image forming apparatus includes a toner density detector that detects the density of toner inside an image developer, a humidity detector that detects toner humidity inside the image forming apparatus, and a controller that controls a toner supplier on the basis of the toner density detected by the toner density detector and that adjusts the toner density in accordance with variations of humidity detected by the humidity detector. The humidity detector is located at a position where the humidity detector can detect humidity of air around the image developer and where the humidity detector is minimally affected by heated air.

摘要： There is provided an image forming device capable of preventing smudges on the background of an image due to excess toner replenishment caused by a failure in stirring developer and toner enough to charge the toner or scattering of replenished toner without being charged. A toner conveying member for conveying replenished toner from a toner replenishing portion through a toner replenishing port to a developer stirring and conveying member is constructed by a screw member unitarily formed with the developer stirring and conveying member. The screw member has a spiral conveying fin capable of conveying the replenished toner at relatively high speed. The replenished toner is delivered to a toner replenishing portion provided in the upstream of a developer receiving portion of the screw member.

A nonconductive sheet member is affixed to the surface of a conductive sheet member which will face a paper or similar recording medium, and protects the paper from the influence of a bias applied to the conductive sheet member. The paper is therefore free from a charge different in polarity from a transfer bias, so that toner is prevented from scattering toward the paper.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member to form a toner image thereupon. A transfer device is positioned adjacent to the image bearing member to transfer the toner image formed on a surface of the image bearing member onto a surface of a recording medium. A cleaning device cleans the surface of the image bearing member by removing remaining toner on the surface of the image bearing member after the toner image has been transferred onto the recording medium. A fixing device is provided in an upper part of the image forming apparatus to fix the toner image transferred onto the surface of the recording medium when the recording medium passes through the fixing device. An open/close member is rotatably supported by a main body of the image forming apparatus and opens and closes a recording medium conveying path between the transfer device and the fixing device. And, a shutter is movably supported to move between a protecting position to cover a part of the surface of the image bearing member facing the outside of the image forming apparatus when the open/close member is opened and a retreating position to open the part of the surface of the image bearing member when the open/close member is closed. The retreating position of the shutter is set in a space between the image bearing member and the fixing device and the shutter is movably supported by the main body of the image forming apparatus such that the shutter moves with a first face of the shutter continuously facing the image bearing member when the shutter moves between the protecting position and the retreating position.

摘要： A heating device includes a rotator, a heating source, a reflector, a shield, a rotator holder, and a liquid or semi-solid substance. The rotator is rotatably held. The heating source heats the rotator. The reflector reflects radiant heat emitted from the heating source. The shield is disposed closer to a longitudinal end portion of the rotator than to a longitudinal center portion of the rotator to shield, between the heating source and the rotator, the radiant heat emitted from the heating source. The shield has a reflectance lower than a reflectance of the reflector. The rotator holder holds the longitudinal end portion of the rotator. The liquid or semi-solid substance has lubricity and adheres to the rotator holder.
