摘要： A vehicle diagnostic information storage system includes a volatile storage device such as a backup RAM and a nonvolatile storage device such as EEPROM. If a fault occurs, a control section stores data on fault items, and input and output conditions of sensors of a vehicle control system, in the volatile storage device and updates the data in the volatile storage device during a vehicle operation. In response to a switching operation of a vehicle main switch such as a turn-on operation of an ignition switch, the control section transfers the most recent version of updated data from the volatile storage device to the nonvolatile storage device.

摘要： A sensor-failure decision system for determining a sensor failure of an automobile temperature sensor, comprises a first memory section adapted to receive input information indicative of a temperature of working fluid used in the automotive power train component part and detected by the automobile temperature sensor, a second memory section for storing a predetermined normal temperature region and a plurality of predetermined partitioned temperature regions which are obtained by partitioning a specified temperature region being lower than and continuous with the predetermined normal temperature region into a plurality of temperature regions, and a timer for measuring an elapsed time during which the temperature detected by the automobile temperature sensor is continually included in either one of the partitioned temperature regions. Also provided is a sensor-failure decision section for determining that a sensor failure of the automobile temperature sensor is present when the elapsed time measured by the timer reaches a predetermined time duration.

摘要： An apparatus for checking a trouble in a communication circuit connected between engine and transmission control units. A check signal is produced at uniform intervals of time. The check signal is converted into a predetermined code. The converted code is transmitted through the communication circuit from one of the engine and transmission control units to the other control unit. The code transmitted to the other control unit is monitored to produce a failure signal to indicate that a trouble occurs in the communication circuit when the monitored code is not identical with the predetermined code.

If all of three formulae on predetermined correlations are established, all of the sensors are determined to be normally operated. If any one or two of the three formulae are not established, the failure one of the three sensors is identified. The three correlation formulae are based as follows: 1) N.sub.E =N.sub.PRI ; 2) N.sub.PRI =N.sub.SEC .times.CN; and 3) N.sub.E =N.sub.PRI .times.C.sub.N, wherein N.sub.E denotes the engine revolution speed, N.sub.PRI denotes the input axle revolution speed, C.sub.N denotes the detected instantaneous gear shift ratio, and N.sub.SEC denotes the detected output axle revolution speed.

The apparatus is operative during a braking operation of the vehicle and includes an engine controller to perform an idling speed control for the engine, and a transmission controller to perform a lock-up releasing control for releasing the torque converter from the lock-up mode. When the lock-up releasing control is being performed, the engine controller continuously performs the idling speed control and thereby prevents occurrence of engine stalling.

摘要： A shifting device for an automatic transmission of a vehicle has a manual shift mode which permits a driver to manually change a speed ratio by displacing a shift lever in an upshift direction or a downshift direction in a manual operation lane from its neutral position. The shifting device is provided with a switch for detecting that the shift lever has moved to the manual operation lane, a switch for detecting that the shift lever has moved in the upshift direction from its neutral position, and a switch for detecting that the shift lever has moved in the downshift direction from its neutral position. All these three switches comprise a traveling contact and two contacts. The traveling contacts of the three switches are earthed, and the six contacts of the three switches are respectively connected to six input terminals of a control unit. Due to this, the control unit can determine a fault in any of the switches based on the signals input into the input terminals.
