    • An optical connector for splicing a rear end of a pre-assembled optical fiber that is mounted within an optical ferrule with a tip of a second optical fiber is provided. The optical connector includes a connector body and an anchor mechanism for anchoring the second optical fiber to the connector body. The anchor mechanism includes a holder for holding the second optical fiber, and connecting portion which anchors the holder to the connector body. The length of the second optical fiber from the holder to the tip is longer than the distance from the holder to the rear end of the pre-assembled optical fiber. The rear end of the pre-assembled optical fiber is a curved convex end surface or an end with a diameter-reducing portion, and is PC-connectable to the tip of the second optical fiber.

    • A linear bearing structure comprises a bearing bush, a plurality of annular ball retainers each holding a plurality of bearing balls, circumferentially and a pair of annular endpieces respectively removably secured to ends of the bush to confine the ball retainers therein. The bearing bush comprises an outer metal cylinder and an inner cylindrical lining layer formed by a bearing material having a small coefficient of friction and a small coefficient of wear and is provided with a slit which has a predetermined width and extends along the axis of the bush over the entire length thereof so that the bush can be circumferentially elastically compressed by a magnitude corresponding to the width of the slit.     • An automatically tiltable small roller structure, which comprises a shaft, a small roller including an elastic rubber cylinder and a sleeve, and a plurality of bearing balls. The sleeve is integral with the inner periphery of the elastic rubber cylinder, and mainly composed of polytetrafluoroethylene (fluoroplastics). The shaft is fitted in the roller structure. The bearing balls are fitted in a circumferential or annular groove formed on the shaft, and are provided such that they are in rolling contact with the inner periphery of the roller and the outer periphery of the shaft in the groove. The groove is provided at a middle point between the opposite ends of the roller. The depth of the groove is set such that the bearing balls project slightly from the groove, so that a slight gap is formed between the inner periphery of the roller and the outer periphery of the shaft.
