    • A compressor includes a housing having a first casing which encloses a compression mechanism and a second casing releasably attached to one end of the first casing. The second casing supporting a pair of bearings which in turn rotatably support a drive shaft. The first one of the bearings is positioned adjacent the first casing and the second bearing is spaced therefrom toward the driven end of the drive shaft. A sealing mechanism is disposed about the drive shaft and between the bearings for sealing the compressor housing and preventing refrigerant or lubricating oil from leaking therefrom.The second bearing includes a gripping mechanism on the outermost radial surface thereof. The gripping mechanism is preferably an annular groove formed in the outermost radial surface of the bearing. Therefore, it is not necessary to remove the casing which supports the bearing from the bearing before pulling the bearing off of the shaft. Furthermore, the sealing mechanism may be replaced without separating the first and second casings.

    • A valuable displacement compressor has several cylinder bores, a crank chamber, a valve plate, a discharge chamber, and a capacity control mechanism for controlling pressure in the crank chamber. A swash plate is disposed in the crank chamber and is tiltably connected to a drive shaft. The swash plate is coupled to each of the pistons, so that the pistons are driven in a reciprocating motion within the cylinder bores. A tilt angle of the swash plate is variable depending on pressure in the crank chamber. A gas passage communicates between the crank chamber and the discharge chamber via the capacity control mechanism, which is disposed along with a line extension of the drive shaft. A first end portion of the capaity control mechanism projects into the discharge chamber and has a screw mechanism.

    • A scroll-type refrigerant compressor unit is provided in which any deflections and undesired vibrations of the moving parts are prevented by a simple construction and in which the orbiting scroll member is prevented from rotating by a simple mechanism. The disk rotor having the drive pin is mounted on an inner end of a drive shaft which is rotatably mounted through the front end plate of the compressor housing. The disk rotor is rotatably supported on the inner surface of the front end plate through a thrust bearing. The orbiting scroll member is rotatably mounted on the drive pin. The orbiting scroll member has a radial flange integrally formed with the scroll member, the flange is supported on the disk rotor through a thrust bearing. Therefore, the drive shaft, the disk rotor, the drive pin and the orbiting scroll member are supported without undesired deflection and vibration during operation. A ring like slider plate member is disposed between the radial flange and the end plate of the orbiting scroll member. The slider member is connected to the end plate of the orbiting scroll member by a key and keyway connection so that the relative rotation is prevented while relative movement in a radial direction is permitted. The slider plate member is also connected to a member fixed to the inner surface of the compressor housing by a key and keyway connection so that relative rotation is prevented while relative movement is permitted in a radial direction perpendicular to the relative movement between the slider member and the orbiting scroll member. The keys and keyways may be preferably formed so that the contact surfaces between mating keys and keyways for receiving rotational torque is on a diameter of the slider member.
