    • There is disclosed herein an automatic heating appliance for controlling heating of an object in response to operation of instruction keys and on the basis of the weight of an object to be heated. The appliance includes therein a heating chamber for housing the object, a heater provided on or in the heating chamber for heating the object placed therein, and a turntable provided in the heating chamber for keeping thereon the object during heating. Also included in the appliance are a weight detector for obtaining first weight data in response to the object being placed on the turntable and a temperature compensator for obtaining a second weight data in response to the object being placed thereon, the temperature compensator substantially having the same temperature characteristic as the weight detector. A control unit of the appliance is responsive to the first and second weight data in order to remove an error component due to variation of the characteristic of the weight detector by variation of temperature in accordance with the result of comparison between the first and second weight data so as to determine a weight resulting from only the object. The control unit controls the heating of the object in accordance with variation of the determined object weight.

    • Provided is an intraocular lens insertion device capable of omitting a repeated operation after the intraocular lens is inserted into the eye. The intraocular lens insertion device (1) comprises a lens setting part (11) for mounting an intraocular lens (5) having an optic (6) and one or two or more supporting portions (7a and 7b) disposed at the outer edge of the optic (6), a plunger (4) for pushing out the intraocular lens (5) mounted in the lens setting part (11), and a nozzle (13) for releasing the intraocular lens (5) pushed out by the plunger (4). This plunger (4) includes a lens contact portion (32) for abutting against the outer edge of the optic (6), and a pushing portion (33) for pushing out the supporting portion (7b) arranged in the backward direction of a lens advancing axis (A).

    • An intraocular lens insertion device and a cartridge which enable the intraocular lens to be inserted into an eye more stably and easily than ever before. A supporting portion 102 of an intraocular lens 100 arranged on a lens-advancing side in a lens-advancing direction x is pressed against a protrusion 21 so as to be bent backward. Thus, releasing the intraocular lens 100 from a nozzle portion 13 is allowed to begin with the releasing of a curved portion of the supporting portion 102 that has become U-shaped and hard to move freely. As a result, there can be provided an intraocular lens insertion device and a cartridge which enable the intraocular lens 100 to be inserted into an eye more steadily and easily than ever before.
