    • An apparatus and method for adjusting the friendliness of a synthesized speech and thus generating synthesized speech of various styles in a speech synthesis system are provided. The method includes the steps of defining at least two friendliness levels; storing recorded speech data of sentences, the sentences being made up according to each of the friendliness levels; extracting at least one of prosodic characteristics for each of the friendliness levels from the recorded speech data, said prosodic characteristics including at least one of a sentence-final intonation type, boundary intonation types of intonation phrases in the sentence, and an average value of F0 of the sentence, with respect to the recorded speech data; and generating a prosodic model for each of the friendliness levels by statistically modeling the at least one of the prosodic characteristics.

    • The present invention relates to a refrigerator. In the present invention, a communication pad 60 is installed in one of the doors 51 and 53 for opening and closing storage spaces formed in a refrigerator main body 50. The communication pad 60 is detachably installed in a seating; space 58 of the door 53. While an upper end of the communication pad 60 is seated in the seating space 58 by an upper clamp 61, a lower end of the communication pad 60 is seated in the seating space 58 by a lower clamp 61′. The upper clamp 61 and the lower clamp 61′ are installed in the seating space 58 through hinge assemblies 65. Here, the hinge assemblies 65 are configured so that the upper and lower clamps 61 and 61′ rotate only by a force of a predetermined value or higher. According to the present invention constructed as above, it is possible to get advantages in that the communication pad 60 is securely mounted to and easily dismounted from the door 53.

    • An icemaker for an ice supply system for preventing water from overflowing from the ice tray by vibration and/or shaking of the surrounding structure includes an icemaker, a container provided at a lower part of the icemaker and an ice chute for supplying the ice stored in the ice container. An ejector in the ice tray of the icemaker and a dropper device having an inclined upper surface at a side of the open top of the ice tray are provided for dropping the ice discharged upwardly by the ejector. The dropper has no gap or slot through which the ejector passes to prevent water overflow through the dropper. An overflow prevention device is provided at another side of the open top of the ice tray for preventing water filled in the ice tray from overflowing.

    • Provided are a system for generating a surface mesh surrounding particles on a 3D space. An implicit function module receives particle data containing three-dimensional location and radius data of the particles, grids the particles into rectangular parallelepiped shape, and generates implicit function data having implicit function value determining the surface at grid points. A mesh module generates a mesh through a pre-process of substituting the implicit function value of the gird point, where the implicit function value is defined, by zero when the a distance between a grid point where the implicit function value of the implicit function data and the vertex of the mesh is within a set distance. Accordingly, the system and method are useful for visualizing the results of particle simulations used in basic science and engineering. In particular, the system and method can generate high-quality mesh in computer graphics of fluid simulation using the particles.
