    • A laser treatment apparatus which is used to treat an affected part of a patient by irradiating a treatment laser beam to the affected part is disclosed. The apparatus includes a laser irradiation unit provided with a laser irradiation optical system for delivering the laser beam to the affected part; a contact member including a contact face which is brought into contact with at least one of the affected part and a periphery thereof; a cooler which cools down at least the contact face of the contact member; a sensor which detects at least one of a temperature of a periphery of the contact face made contact with the affected part, a temperature of a predetermined portion of at least one of the contact member and the cooler, a contact state of the contact face with respect to the affected part, and a relative substantially horizontal movement of the contact member with respect to the affected part; and an irradiation controller which controls laser irradiation based on a result of detection by the sensor.

    • A laser depilation apparatus for performing depilation on a skin by irradiating the skin with a laser beam is disclosed. The apparatus includes a first irradiation unit including a laser source (21) for emitting a laser beam for depilation and a light delivery optical system (22, 23, 28, 2, 3) for forming the depilation laser beam emitted from the laser source into a small spot and delivering the beam into a first predetermined range (30) to irradiate the range; a first detection unit (6, 25) for detecting a position of a portion to be depilated within at least the first range; and a controller (20) for controlling the first irradiation unit to selectively irradiate the position of the portion to be depilated with the depilation laser beam based on detection result of the first detection unit.

    • A laser apparatus has a laser device, a first reflection mirror, an output mirror and a second reflection mirror. The laser device oscillates first and second laser light beams. The first reflection mirror reflects a first laser light beam and is fixed at one end of an optical axis. The second reflection mirror reflects a second laser light beam and is arranged between the laser device and the first reflection mirror so as to be movable with respect to the optical axis. The output mirror reflects the first and second laser light beams and is fixed at the other end of the optical axis. With such a structure, the second reflection mirror is set to first and second positions. Specifically, the second reflection mirror is remote from the optical axis in the first position. Consequently, the first laser light beam is amplified between the first reflection mirror and the output mirror. On the other hand, the second reflection mirror is placed on the optical axis in the second position. Consequently, the second laser light beam is amplified between the second reflection mirror and the output mirror.

    • There is disclosed a colored high-tenacity fiber of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene which is obtainable by spinning a solution of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and a dye for coloration to form solvent-containing filaments and drawing the solvent-containing filaments. The colored high-tenacity fiber of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene has a tensile strength of at least 28 g/d and a tensile modulus of at least 700 g/d. The dye is substantially soluble in the solvent at the melting point of solvent-containing filaments which are obtained by spinning a solution of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and the dye is substantially uniformly dispersed in the core portion of the fiber. Also disclosed is a process for producing a colored high-tenacity fiber of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene.
