    • A remotely controllable, transforming, water squirting toy vehicle includes a structure in the form of a lever arm mounted for pivotal movement with respect to a remainder of the vehicle from a first position in which a surface of the arm is hidden within the vehicle to a second, elevated position in which the hidden surface of the arm is exposed. The hidden surface of the arm bears the likeness of a snake or other creature and includes a nozzle fluidly coupled to a pump and reservoir within the remainder of the vehicle. A control system in the vehicle receives and processes steering and propulsion control signals as well as an arm raising/water pumping control signal. A single actuator controls the movement of the lever arm which is spring loaded, by releasing the lever arm from a latched position and powers the pump driving liquid from the reservoir to the nozzle.

    • A toy vehicle has a chassis, two axles, two pairs of wheels and four identical wheel support housings. Each wheel is mounted on a separate end of a separate one of the two axles by one of the wheel support housings. The wheels are mounted for rotation on the housings, which are mounted off center on the axles so as to rotate eccentrically around the axles with the wheels. Wheels on either lateral side of the chassis are driven by separate propulsion motors driving separate gear trains in the chassis to propel the vehicle. Collars around the axles and pairs of gears within the wheel support housings themselves couple the wheels with the gear trains. The axles are rotated together through a third shaft driven by a separate accessory motor to vary the eccentric position of the wheel support housings and thereby alter the appearance and performance of the vehicle. Slip clutches with angled, mating faces, effectively coupling the axles with the third shaft. The faces are spring biased together and remain engaged over limited ranges of angular movement. This permits each slip clutch to act as a suspension for the wheel support housings and the wheels supported on each axle protecting those downstream drive components from being overloaded and broken. The clutches further permit alteration of the phase between the wheel axles. Independent radio control of an accessory motor and two propulsion motors is provided.

    • A radio-controlled toy vehicle is provided with four non-steerable wheels, two on each lateral side of the vehicle. In one embodiment, the wheels on each lateral side are drivingly coupled with a separate, reversible motor. The vehicle is steered by controlling the operation and direction of each motor. In another embodiment, the wheels on each lateral side are drivingly coupled with a single reversible motor. The vehicle is steered through one-way clutches which allow the wheels on one lateral side to operate in either a forward or a reverse direction while the wheels on an opposite lateral side always rotate in the same direction. In both embodiments, a pivoting beam is centrally located on one lateral side, with the wheels on that side being rotatably attached to the beam. The pivoting beam provides for infinite ranges of suspension positions. In operation, the vehicle proceeds until it encounters an obstacle. Depending upon the size of the obstacle relative to the size of the vehicle wheels, the vehicle either rolls over the obstacle or climbs up the obstacle and flips over. In yet another embodiment, two beams are provided, each supporting a pair of front and rear wheels on separate lateral sides of the vehicle.

The wheels are arranged and the vehicle statically balanced such that the vehicle is supported by the center pair of wheels and one of the two remaining front and rear pairs of wheels, preferably the rear pair of wheels, when the vehicle is stationary on a level, horizontal surface. The vehicle is dynamically balanced so that when the wheels of the middle pair are driven in opposite linear directions, the vehicle spins rapidly about a vertical axis located directed between the middle pair of wheels and further pitches automatically slightly forwardly around the middle pair of wheels to lower the front end of the vehicle while raising the rear end and rear pair of ground-contacting wheels from the ground, so that the vehicle is supported only on the center pair of wheels.

A single reversible electric motor is provided in the chassis to selectively rotate the front end with the front wheels about a generally longitudinal axis through a partial rotation for steering or through as many complete rotations as desired for stunts. The electric motor is also drivingly coupled to the rear wheels to provide propulsion power to the vehicle. A power take-off from the motor includes a one-way clutch which rotates the front end when the motor is propelling the vehicle in a reverse direction. A stop is provided to limit the free rotation of the front end. The stop releasably engages a collar around a shaft rotating the front end and is overcome by providing sufficient torque to the shaft or the front end.

The rear end contains a propulsion drive coupled to the rear wheels and is pivotally coupled with the chassis so that both rear wheels remain grounded as the chassis pivots in reaction to rotation of the front end for steering. In another embodiment, a stop is provided to limit the rotation of the front end. The stop releasably engages a collar around a shaft rotating the front end and is disengaged by providing more torque to the shaft. A remote hand control unit includes manual actuators and switches to generate signals for left steer, right steer, left continuous rotation and right continuous rotation of the front end as well as forward and reverse propulsion.
