摘要： Provided is a method and apparatus for displaying a 3-dimensional (3D) image. The method includes alternately displaying left and right eye images on a display having a plurality of image lines that are arranged sequentially. Since light emission of all of segments is stopped when the left and right eye images are partially simultaneously displayed, both the left and right eye images can be prevented from being seen at the same time.

Segment driving voltages are controlled to be applied to a plurality of segments of a first electrode of a barrier panel based on a display direction of an image signal displayed on an image display panel of an apparatus for reproducing a 3D image. An odd barrier driving voltage is controlled to be commonly applied to odd numbered barriers of a plurality of barriers of a second electrode of the barrier panel. An even barrier driving voltage is controlled to be commonly applied to even numbered barriers of the plurality of barriers. The segment driving voltage, the odd barrier driving voltages, and the even barrier driving voltages are synchronized.

摘要： A 2D/3D switchable stereoscopic display which can provide a 3D image with complete parallax using two polarization grating screens is provided. The 2D/3D switchable stereoscopic display includes a display device which an image and a parallax barrier unit including first and second polarization grating screens facing each other. The parallax barrier unit has a 2D mode and a 3D mode and is switched between the 2D mode and the 3D mode when the two polarization grating screens are moved relative to each other. In the 2D mode, the parallax barrier unit transmits all light, and in the 3D mode, it forms a barrier and a plurality of apertures which are arranged at predetermined intervals in two dimensions, thereby transmitting light through only the apertures and thus providing a 3D image with horizontal parallax and vertical parallax.

The stereoscopic display includes a display device providing an image and a parallax barrier unit that transmits all incident light in a 2D mode and forms barriers to separate an image for a left eye from an image for a right eye in a 3D mode by moving two facing polarization grating screens relative to each other. The polarization grating screens have a grating pattern such that two kinds of birefringence elements changing the directions of polarization of incident light into different directions are alternately disposed horizontally and vertically, and each row of the birefringence elements is shifted with respect to a previous row by a predetermined horizontal distance.
