    • A plurality of concavities and convexities is provided on tips of all rotor teeth 24 of the SR motor 5. Depths of the concave portions α are deep on an edge side where a stator tooth 23 and rotor tooth 24 first approach and are shallow as a facing area between the stator tooth 23 and rotor tooth 24 increases. Therefore, magnetic resistance between the stator tooth 23 and rotor tooth 24 becomes high at an early stage of the stator tooth 23 and rotor tooth 24 facing each other and becomes low as the facing area between the stator tooth 23 and rotor tooth 24 increases. As a result, torque fluctuation can be suppressed at a time of a large current and a minimum generation torque can be increased at a time of a small current.

    • A shift range change mechanism changes a shift range of an automatic transmission of a vehicle. A parking change mechanism disables rotation of a drive axle of the vehicle by engaging a park pole supported by a stationary member against a parking gear, which is rotated synchronously with the drive axle of the vehicle, at time of setting the shift range to parking. The parking change mechanism enables the rotation of the drive axle by disengaging the park pole from the parking gear at time of parking release of the shift range. An electric rotatable actuator drives the shift range change mechanism and the parking change mechanism. An SBW ECU controls power supply to an electric motor of the rotatable actuator. The SBW ECU increases an output torque of the electric motor only at the time of the parking release.

    • A disc drive is constructed from a main body which includes a mechanism unit having a disc rotating mechanism for rotating a disc and a play back mechanism for playing back information recorded on the disc, disc tray movably provided with respect to the main body for supporting a disc and a casing for housing the main body. The disc drive is provided with vibration absorbing members for suppressing transmission of vibration caused by high speed rotation of the disc from the main body to the casing. The vibration absorbing members are formed of elastical members and they are arranged between the side portions of the main body and the inside of the casing, thereby the main body is supported by the casing through the vibration absorbing members to prevent vibrations caused in the main body from being transmitted to the casing. Further, the casing has a U-shaped side plate and a top plate fixed to the side plate by screws, in which the top plate is in point contact with the side plate through a plurality of protrusions formed on upper edges of the side plate. This point contact between the top plate and the side plate makes it possible to prevent rattling from being caused by the transmitted vibrations, thereby preventing generation of noise.

    • A rotary actuator of the present invention is advantageously used as an actuator in a shift-by-wire system in an automatic transmission. An electric motor and a speed reduction device for reducing a rotational speed of the motor are contained in a housing composed of a front housing and a rear housing. The motor is positioned in the housing at its rear side, and the speed reduction device at its front side. The speed reduction device is composed of a sun gear rotatably supported on an eccentric portion formed on a rotor shaft, a ring gear having inner teeth engaging with outer teeth of the sun gear, and an output shaft loosely coupled to the sun gear for outputting the rotational torque at a reduced speed. The sun gear made of a magnetic material is positioned in contact with an axial end of a stator core of the motor to provide an additional magnetic flux path and thereby to increase an output torque of the motor.
