摘要： Bookbinding unit eliminating the necessity of a user, in placing collated inner leaves onto a tray, pre-measuring the bundle thickness, and the danger of fingers getting pinched during the placement. Furnished with: inner-leaf tray; coversheet tray; gripping conveyor gripping and transporting bundles of leaf-tray sheets; coversheet conveyor feeding coversheet-tray covers and placing them in a binding location; adhesive applicator applying adhesive to bundle spine-portion endfaces; cover binder binding bundles and covers together; and controller encasing bundles in covers to form booklets. A first detector, in the inner-leaf tray, detects thickness of bundles therein, and a second detector, in the gripping conveyor, detects thickness of the gripped bundles. The controller prohibits the gripping conveyor from conveying inner leaves out from the inner-leaf tray when the thickness of a sheet bundle detected by the first detector is more than a predetermined thickness.

Apply adhesive to a spine portion of inner-bound sheets collated and stacked into a bundle, join that sheet bundle to a spine portion of a coversheet, and fold the coversheet over the sheet bundle. At that time, the bookmarker string is attached to the booklet simultaneously by joining the sheet bundle to the coversheet with the bookmarker string placed over the inside spine portion of the coversheet.

摘要： A sheet processing device according to the present invention is formed of an image forming device, an ejecting device and a stacking device; wherein the sheet processing device further includes an auxiliary support device which is disposed at a distal side in a sheet ejecting direction of the support device. The auxiliary support device is rotatably moved between a support position for supporting at least a forward end of the sheet and a retracting position from the support position. Whereby the stacking area of the support device can be varied, and the ejecting of the sheets temporarily stacked on the stacking device can be easily accomplished.

Provided are an incoming sheet conveyance path for sequentially bringing in printed sheets; a stacking tray unit for stacking and collating into bundles sheets from the conveyance path; a bookbinding process path that transports sheet bundles from the stacking tray unit to a predetermined cover-binding position; and a cover feed path for feeding cover sheets to the cover-binding position. A protective-sheet storage tray for supplying jacketing sheets is annexed to the cover feed path, and a conveyance unit that overlays fed cover sheets with jacketing sheets from their storage tray and transports the jacketed cover sheets to the cover-sheet binding position is disposed in the cover feed path.
