    • A system for providing pictures responding to users' remote control is an system for providing digital picture signals of respective programs specified by operation signals from external communication lines. The system comprises a line control equipment for connecting each communication line to its corresponding internal signal line among plural internal signal lines, and plural picture providing equipments connected to the plural internal signal lines, respectively.Each picture providing equipment comprises plural picture storing/reproducing equipments, an operation signal analysis equipment for analyzing the operation signals, and a picture output equipment for making the picture storing/reproducing equipment storing the pictures of specified program output the picture signals of the program, to the line control equipment through the internal signal line.

    • Original voice uttered in a first space is acquired via a microphone and a series of digital waveform data of the acquired original voice are obtained. The waveform data are sequentially segmented into plural frames and the waveform data of the individual frames are written into a memory. In parallel with writing, into the memory, of the waveform data, individual ones of the frames already written in the memory are sequentially or randomly selected and read out in a direction opposite to a direction the waveform data of the frame have been written so that a reverse-reproduced voice signal is generated. As the original voice is transmitted, as a leaked voice from the first space to a second space near the first space, a scrambling voice based on the reverse-reproduced voice signal is spatially mixed with the leaked voice in the second space.

    • There is provided a stepping motor comprising: a stator assembly; a rotor assembly rotatably disposed inside the stator assembly, and including a rotary shaft rotatably supported by bearings, a sleeve fixedly attached onto the rotary shaft, and at least one magnet disposed outside the sleeve; and a preloading mechanism disposed between the sleeve and one of the bearings, and including a coil spring, and a spring holder which is composed of an outer case shaped in a cup-like configuration and an inner case shaped in a cup-like configuration, and which is adapted to house the coil spring. In the stepping motor described above, the spring holder of the preloading mechanism is formed of reinforced polyamide resin, and a washer member having a high sliladability is disposed between the preloading mechanism and the one bearing.

    • The technical field of the invention generally concerns systems for receiving and transmitting compressed video and audio data. In particular, a subscriber system (10) includes a communication subsystem (12) to receive compressed data from and transmit compressed data to a ISDN primary access line (14) utilizing the "bandwidth on demand" feature of that communication channel. The communication subsystem (12) separates received compressed data into compressed video data and compressed audio data. Within the subscriber system (10), the compressed video data is transmitted to a programmable video data format conversion subsystem (28) for decompression and production of a visible image on a CRT (82). Similarly, compressed audio data is transmitted to a programmable audio data format conversion subsystem (192) for decompression and production of an audible sound on a speaker (262). Compressed data of visible images and audible sounds may also be obtained with and transmitted from the subscriber system (10).
