    • A roots pump has a housing, a plurality of rotary shafts, a rotor, a confluent passage and a closed space. The housing forms therein a pump chamber. The rotary shafts are supported on the housing in parallel relation to each other. The rotor is mounted on each of the rotary shafts, and the rotors on any adjacent rotary shafts are in engagement with each other. A set of the engaged rotors is accommodated in the pump chamber. The confluent passage is formed along one crossing line of paired imaginary swept peripheral surfaces in one-to-one correspondence with the paired and engaged rotors. The closed space is formed in one-to-one correspondence with each of the paired rotors between the paired rotors and paired peripheral wall surfaces which form the pump chamber. The closed space initially joins the confluent passage from a terminal end thereof with rotation of the paired rotors.

    • A diaphragm unit includes a diaphragm and a diaphragm case. The diaphragm has a center point and an outer peripheral portion. The diaphragm case includes a fixing surface and a regulating surface. The fixing surface supports the diaphragm at the outer peripheral portion thereof, thereby defining a fluid chamber in the diaphragm case. The regulating surface forms an inner surface of the fluid chamber, thereby providing a limit of deformation of the diaphragm. The regulating surface has a convex surface region and a concave surface region. The convex surface region is formed continuously with the fixing surface for supporting the diaphragm at a portion thereof adjacent to the outer peripheral portion. The concave surface region is formed continuously with the convex surface region for supporting the diaphragm at a portion thereof adjacent to the center point. Curvatures of the convex and concave surface regions are the same.

    • A screw fluid machine includes a screw-shaped male rotor having formed helically therearound teeth and a screw-shaped female rotor having formed helically therearound grooves. The female rotor is engaged with the male rotor. A housing accommodates therein the male and female rotors. A working chamber is defined by the housing and the male and female rotors. Lead angles of the teeth and the grooves decrease from an inlet toward an outlet. An outline of each tooth includes a pair of first arc portions whose arc center is located on a pitch circle of the male rotor, and a second arc portion provided between the first arc portions. An outline of each groove includes a pair of third arc portions corresponding with the first arc portions, and a fourth arc portion substantially corresponding with the second arc portion.
