    • Disclosed herein are an electronic paper display device and a driving method thereof. The electronic paper display device includes: rotating balls each having at least two display areas colored in different colors and including a portion charged with a positive charge and a portion charged with a negative charge; a driving controller generating a driving voltage for rotating the rotating balls; and an upper electrode and a lower electrode provided above and below the rotating balls, respectively, and receiving a driving voltage from the driving controller, wherein the driving controller may apply a first driving voltage for rotating the rotating balls between the upper electrode and the lower electrode for time duration T1 and apply a second driving voltage, which has a polarity opposite to that of the first driving voltage, between the upper electrode and the lower electrode for time duration T2.

    • There is provided an electronic paper display device and a manufacturing method thereof. The electronic paper display device includes a first substrate formed of a light transmitting material; a second substrate disposed to face the first substrate having a predetermined gap therebetween; at least one or more rotatable balls disposed between the first and second substrates and having electrical and optical anisotropy; and partitions dividing a space between the first and second substrates into a plurality of cell spaces accommodating the rotatable balls. The partitions are disposed to be spaced apart from each other with differing gaps therebetween in order to allow the cell spaces to have different sizes. When the same magnitude of voltage is applied to the rotatable balls disposed in the differently sized cell spaces, respective rotation angles of the rotatable balls become different, and accordingly a wide range of contrast levels is displayed.

    • There is provided a method of manufacturing electronic paper, the method including: preparing a substrate having a plurality of accommodating holes in order to accommodate electronic paper display elements; injecting insulating liquid into the individual accommodating holes; increasing the height of partitions forming the accommodating holes by mounting a mask on the partitions, the mask providing through-holes having a size similar to that of the accommodating holes; putting the electronic paper display elements into the accommodating holes; removing extra electronic paper display elements in excess of a predetermined number thereof by a removal unit in order that the predetermined number of electronic paper display elements are put into the accommodating holes; and removing the mask mounted on the partitions after the extra electronic paper display elements are removed from the accommodating holes.

    • There is provided an electronic paper display device and a manufacturing method thereof. The electronic paper display device includes a first electrode formed of a transparent material; at least one or more second electrodes disposed to face the first electrode with differing gaps therebetween; and at least one or more display units disposed between the first and second electrodes and having optical properties varied according to voltage applied to the first and second electrodes. The display units are disposed between the first electrode and the second electrodes disposed to face the first electrode with differing gaps, so respective rotation amounts or rotation angles of the display units become different when the same magnitude of voltage is applied. Accordingly, a wide range of contrast levels is displayed.
