    • For the display of images, notably X-ray images, the complete image of full resolution, usually consisting of a group of images, may be substantially larger than the size that can be reproduced on a display screen. In accordance with the invention, the overall group of images is displayed on the display screen as an auxiliary image in a strongly reduced scale, the size of the auxiliary image being dependent on the group of images. Via a frame which is reproduced in the auxiliary image and whose dimensions and position can be varied, a part of the group of images, i.e. one image or separate neighboring images, is selected and displayed on the overall display screen. When the frame is shifted in the auxiliary image, the part of the overall group of images which is displayed on the display screen is also automatically shifted. The images reproduced in the auxiliary image can be shifted and modified, for example rotated or enlarged or reduced, and any modification of an image situated within the frame is reproduced directly on the overall display screen. The overall view of the entire group of images is thus always preserved.

    • An apparatus for generating and spraying an aerosol which contains liquid particles in a gas stream and for pointedly supplying the aerosol to a lubricating location, comprises (a) a vessel containing a supply of liquid and a pressure space above the level of the liquid supply, (b) an atomizer disposed in the pressure space above the level of the liquid supply and comprising: (i) a spraying device for spraying the aerosol, (ii) a liquid feed line connected at one end to the liquid supply and its other end to the spraying device and including a pump for feeding the liquid, (iii) a gas feed line connected at one end to a pressure gas source and at its other end to the spraying device, (iv) at least one apertured wall disposed in the way of the trajectories of the spray jets from the spraying device and having holes for passing liquid particles of a predetermined size while separating greater liquid particles at the apertured wall, and (c) an aerosol line which connects the pressure space with a machining location to be wetted by the aerosol.

    • A device for 3D acquisition, 3D visualization and computer guided surgery with a tracking system, which can be for example an external optical tracking system (4), a tracked nuclear probe (1) having a nuclear probe (11) and a tip of nuclear probe (14), which measures a radioactivity, is achieved by providing a time synchronized recording of the spatial position and orientation of the tip of nuclear probes (14) and its measured counts of radioactivity. Thus a 3D radioactive surface distribution (8) is generated and may be visualized spatially registered with the viewing geometry of any in a superimposed image (81). Moreover using the said device, a method for 3D acquisition, 3D visualization and computer guided surgery is introduced for invasive or minimally invasive interventions. A further introduced method is the spatial localization of any surgical instrument in the same coordinate system as the said tracked nuclear probe (1) and the guidance of it to the said 3D radioactive surface distribution (8) during the surgical procedure. This is achieved by visualizing a simulated radioactivity measurement or feeding it backs in an acoustic signal. The said simulated radioactivity measurement is calculated based on the 3D radioactive surface distribution (8) and the position and orientation of the tip of the surgical instrument. The invention compromises also an integrated system that implements all or some of the said methods. Finally the invention includes a tracked combination of nuclear probe with camera (9).
