摘要： The embodiments herein relate to electrochromic window systems and components thereof. In particular, the disclosed embodiments relate to systems where electrochromic devices are powered and/or controlled using photonic energy. In an exemplary embodiment, a laser is driven by a driver to deliver photonic power and/or control information into an optical fiber. The optical fiber carries the power and control information to a photovoltaic converter and a controller. The photovoltaic converter and controller may be included within an insulated glass unit in some embodiments. The photovoltaic converter converts the light energy into electrical energy used to power a transition in an optical state of an electrochromic layer or layers within the insulated glass unit. The controller may be used to control the power delivered to the electrochromic layer(s), such that a smooth transition occurs. In some embodiments, control information may be transmitted in an upstream manner to communicate information regarding, for example, the state of an electrochromic device (e.g., current level of tinting, fault status, etc.).

摘要： An optical device exhibiting a color shift upon rotation is disclosed. The optical device has a textured surface having a relief structure finer than a human eye resolution but large enough not to exhibit diffraction effects. The textured surface is coated with an interference thin film that exhibits a color shift with tilt. A uniform color seen at one angle of rotation changes to another uniform color when the optical device is rotated in its own plane. A method of manufacturing of such an optical device, as well as the use of the optical device as an optical security and authentication element, is also disclosed.

摘要： A multilayer thin film filter is disclosed an organic dielectric layer serving as a spacer layer in a Fabry-Perot structure. The dielectric has embossed regions of varying thicknesses wherein the thickness within a region is substantially uniform. Each different region of a different thickness produces a different color (shift). The size of one of the embossed adjacent regions is such that the color of said one region is uniform and cannot be seen by a human eye as different in color from the uniform color of an adjacent region thereto, and wherein the color within a region can be seen with magnification of at least 10:1. This serves as a covert color coding system useful as a security device.

The coating structure of the flakes and foils includes a reflector layer, a dielectric layer on the reflector layer, and a titanium-containing absorber layer on the dielectric layer. The pigment flakes and foils exhibit a discrete color shift so as to have a first color at a first angle of incident light or viewing and a second color different from the first color at a second angle of incident light or viewing. The pigment flakes can be interspersed into liquid media such as paints or inks to produce colorant compositions for subsequent application to objects or papers. The foils can be laminated to various objects or can be formed on a carrier substrate.
