    • A door lock security system is disclosed in which each lock in a multiple lock system is modified by the addition of door lock security apparatus which, in electrical form, stores at least an individual key combination (and possibly several different levels of master key combinations) for the lock. Also, the conventional lock cylinder is replaced with a cylinder assembly which senses the magnetic reluctance state (high or low) of predetermined locations on a key substantially resembling a conventional cylinder lock key in size, weight and general shape and capable of mechanically operating the lock. The magnetic reluctance states of the predetermined locations digitally encode the key combination and the thus encoded combination is compared to the electrically stored one, disabling the mechanical operation of the lock unless the two combinations are identical. The electrical combination storage means within the door lock security apparatus may be placed in an adaptive state in which the combination of the next key inserted into the lock is stored as the lock combination and, thereafter, only a key with that combination will operate the lock. There is also provided an emergency key which overrides all other keys and, at any time, can operate any lock in a multiple lock system. This emergency key generates a time varying electrical signal which enables operation of any door lock despite its stored combination.

    • A high-speed printer includes a standard printing element, such as a daisy wheel, a paper feed mechanism and a ribbon feed mechanism. All of these various devices are controlled by a single linear actuator which comprises an elongated cylindrical magnet, C-shaped in cross-section, through which a ferrous core axially extends. A plurality of separate armatures envelope the core in the air gap between the magnet and core and are adapted to move linearly upon application thereto of a control current. The armatures control, respectively, the movement of the carriage containing the printer element, the rotation of the printer element, the advancement of the paper feed mechanism and the incremental positioning in both directions of the ink ribbon.

    • A one piece extrusion provides the base for a simple and effective vacuum tank for magnetic tape handlers. The extrusion carries longitudinal slots which accept stamped metal nuts. These nuts are readily positioned by sliding them along the slots. Slots along the edges of the extrusion are used to carry nuts holding hinges for a plastic cover over the tank front. Slots along the back and near the edges of the extrusion carry nuts for mounting the tank on the tape handler main frame. A longitudinal slot along the back of the extrusion and spaced in from one edge carries spring-loaded tubular inserts for attachment to the vacuum sensing tubes. Communication with the vacuum chamber is implemented by means of holes at appropriate places along the body of the extrusion.

    • A vacuum chuck apparatus includes a vacuum chuck mounted on one end of a hollow shaft whose other end is connected through a rotary seal to a vacuum source. The seal includes a first member having a cap portion cemented to the shaft end and an axially bored frustoconical projection on its end wall and a second member having a frustoconical socket complementing the projection which partially nests in the socket. The second member has a radial pin loosely engaging a longitudinal slot in a stationary bracket to restrict its rotation and permit its axial movement. A spring loaded pressure plate bears on the outer end face of the seal second member.

    • This invention is directed to an automated mini-golf game having a plurality of mini-golf holes which each have a tee area, a fairway or putting green and at least one target hole. The final mini-golf hole of the game has a coin and bill acceptor for delivering a golf ball to a player when actuated, a target area with target holes at an elevated end of a ramp, and a switch and dispensing device for identifying which target hole through which a golf ball has been putted, and thereafter dispensing redemption coupons corresponding to such hole. The final hole also has a set of racks on its housing to hold scorecards, pencils and golf clubs, thereby permitting an entire game to be played sequentially by a multitude of players without an on-site attendant.
