    • A wheeled vehicle having the appearance of an insect, such as a spider, includes a main body portion housing a drive mechanism for propelling the vehicle across a suitable supporting surface. The drive mechanism is shiftable for operating a cord winch for pulling the vehicle or drawing objects toward the mouth of the spider. A plurality of legs are mounted to the body portion by flexible couplings which permit the legs to engage the supporting surface so that they move randomly, during movement of the vehicle, to simulate a crawling action. A cockpit provided on the rear portion of the body is covered by a transparent shield and provided with indicia to define the control quarters of a mechanical spider device.

    • A drive mechanism for a toy vehicle. The drive mechanism connects a drive shaft of the vehicle to a driven wheel having an axis of rotation. It includes a first arm affixed to the vehicle drive shaft for rotation therewith. A second arm is affixed to the wheel axle for rotation with the axle. The first and second arms are pivotally connected together at a position offset from the drive shaft and the wheel axis. A spring biases the arms into an overlapping relationship in which, during normal rolling movement of the vehicle, the drive shaft is aligned with the driven wheel so that the wheel rotates about the axis of the drive shaft. A first stop is provided to engage the arms to limit rotation of the arms about their pivotal connection relative to each other in the direction of rotation of the wheel axle. A second stop engages the arms to limit rotation of the arms away from each other towards a fully extended position.

    • A multi-stage toy vehicle includes a front portion having wheel means supporting the vehicle for rolling movement and a separate, rear portion initially nested with the front portion and also having wheels for supporting the vehicle. A detachable connector is provided between the nested together portions of the vehicle for retaining the portions in a nested condition as the vehicle is initially launched from a launching device. A biasing element is provided for ejecting the front portion of the vehicle away from the rear portion after the vehicle is launched and rolling. The launching device provides an impact against the vehicle while the front and rear portions are nested together to initially propel the vehicle from the launcher and this impact releases the detachable connector so that the biasing element is effective to eject the front portion away from the rear portion as the rolling friction begins to decrease, thus, providing a multi-stage effect. The launching device is a piston mounted in a chamber pressurized by a manual pump. Manually movable trigger means releasably blocks the piston movement.

    • A mechanical, pin-ball type game apparatus comprises an enclosure for holding one or more balls including a sloping bottom wall or game board with a peripheral side wall for containing the balls as they roll downwardly on the sloped game board towards a lower end portion thereof on a scoring pass. A manually operated ball firing device is provided for shooting or propelling the balls upwardly from the lower end portion of the board towards an upper end and the balls then roll downwardly on the board and engage target devices thereon. The game apparatus includes rows of ball actuated target devices including ball engaging paddles mounted on rotatable shafts. The targets include a spring motor which is released when hit to forceably propel the ball coming in contact therewith in an opposite direction. Each time the target device is activated by ball contact, a scoring device is advanced and a bell is sounded. The release mechanism is a downwardly deflectable pad mounted on the bottom wall. A stop member is provided to limit rotation of the shaft each time a ball rolls onto the deflectable release pad. A counter registers each time a ball rolls onto a release pad. Manually powered flippers are returned to the ready position by the use of rubber bands to provide a bias force.

    • A round-about game is designed for players to attempt to grab pegs from a playing surface when the pegs are randomly and selectively raised relative to the playing surface for a short period of time. The game includes a housing, the upper part of which defines the playing surface having a plurality of sets of recesses, each set of recesses being disposed at a different distance from a central vertical axis of the housing. Each of the recesses is adapted to receive one of the pegs such that the pegs are not readily removed from the playing surface. A rotatable platform is rotated below the playing surface about the central axis of the housing and has cams disposed thereon to engage the removable pegs resulting in the pegs being raised above the playing surface. The rotation of a starter button extending from the top center of the playing surface energizes a windup motor through a ratchet mechanism so that the platform is maintained stationary. The depression of the starter button initiates play of the game with the rotatable platform being rotated approximately 360.degree. by the windup motor through the ratchet mechanism.

Shooting assemblies are positioned at the player stations to shoot projectiles at one of two targets mounted for transverse movement across the center of the playing field. Each target includes a rotary disc member, a release mechanism and a biasing device to bias the target toward one side of the field. Each target release mechanism also includes a latch engageable with a rotary member and having a portion extending adjacent the playing field for contact by the projectiles that will actuate the latch allowing the target to move toward the scoring end of the field under the face of the biasing means. A score indicating flag is mounted at the end of the track to indicate the completion of the game.
