    • A service session resource manager (72) for use in a router (18) capable of routing a plurality of at least partially contemporaneous service sessions over a communications line is described which mediates between services competing for bandwidth. The service session manager (72) updates its internal state based on both mediation enabled (22b) and mediation non-enabled (22a) devices. The resource manager (72) comprises memory arranged to store a current resource utilization indicator for a resource of said communications line, a service request processor arranged to process a new service session request from a client terminal to determine a required resource for said new service session over said communications line and to determine if the required resource is available in dependence on an available line rate and said current utilization indicator, means to reserve the required resource, means to update said current utilization indicator to indicate the allowed resource reservation; and means to respond to said requesting client that said resources have been reserved, wherein said current resource utilization indicator is also updated by said service request processor to indicate a resource used by one or more service sessions established by one or more client terminals configured to send service requests over said communications line without requesting access to the service from said service session manager.

    • A service platform for a content delivery network indicates a transmission rate cap to be imposed when streaming data to a data requesting device over an access network. Means are provided for receiving a service request for delivery of data from a requesting device as the result of which the requested data is delivered as a prioritised traffic stream over an access link to the requesting device. The service platform processes the service request to determine one or more performance characteristics of said access link and uses this to determine the maximum transmission rate for the requested data to be streamed at over the access link during its delivery to the requesting device. This information is included in a source address for the requested data which the service platform generates, typically as a URL. The maximum transmission rate set is provided as a prefix to the URL (or in some other meta-data format) to the requesting device, and the content delivery platform is configured to ensure that requests for media assets which are received at the logical or virtual ports associated with the URL pre-fixes are responded to by transmissions limited to the maximum bandwidth cap indicated by the URL pre-fix.

    • The present invention relates to a device used to position and secure smaller sized film, during film processing in a film processor adapted for processing larger sized film. The generally rectangular film carrier transport adaptor is of a size adaptable to pass through film processor used to process larger sized film. The adaptor has one or more apertures extending through the base sheet. Pressure sensitive adhesive is located around the perimeter of each aperture to hold the film to the adaptor. A peelably removable liner is located around the apertures and covers the pressure sensitive adhesive to protect the adhesive until the film is ready to be placed over the aperture and against the adhesive for processing. The film carrier transport adaptor can be comprised of a number of different laminate combinations which are made of materials which will not be damaged or destroyed when exposed to chemicals or rollers during film processing.

    • A data processing system method and software application program is provided for the efficient dissemination of information to multiple recipients over one or more communication channels in a communications network, for instance the multicast Internetwork. The method defines at least one primary data set for transmission over at least one primary communications channel in the network, where each primary data set includes data relating to at least one secondary data set associated therewith and provided for transmission over a secondary communications channel. The primary data set or sets are transmitted over primary communications channel(s) and at least one primary data set is modified in response to modifications to at least one secondary data set. The transmission step is repeated to provide potential recipient(s) of the primary data set or sets with an indication that at least one secondary data set has been modified independently of the recipient(s) receiving the modified secondary data set or sets.

    • The invention provides a sightglass assembly for viewing the interior of a vessel, such as a reaction vessel for chemical or biochemical reactions, and is adapted to be welded to a vessel wall. The sightglass assembly comprises a window disc fused to a metal frame having a flange extending radially therefrom. The assembly is set into an appropriately sized opening in the vessel wall and the outer perimeter of the flange is welded to the vessel wall. An annular groove in the flange, surrounding the frame and window disc, absorbs stresses created by the heat of welding and thus protects the integrity of the entire unit. When installed, the sightglass assembly and inner face of the tank wall provide an easily cleanable smooth continuous surface, free of recesses and crevasses where bacteria can collect and grow or product from previous batches can accumulate and cause contamination.
