摘要： A process for the production of ethanol from biomass is disclosed. The process relates to the pretreatment of corncob biomass and includes the steps of exposing corncob to steam in a reaction vessel at an elevated temperature and reaction pressure for a preselected exposure time. Volatile compounds are continuously vented during pretreatment. The reaction pressure is released for explosive decomposition of the corncob biomass into fibrous solids and condensate. The exposure is preferably carried out at a temperature of 190-210° C. and a pressure of 190 psig to 275 psig and an exposure time of 3 to 10 minutes.

摘要： A supercharger system for an internal combustion model engine is driven by the associated engine and includes a drive belt, a belt driven pulley and a mounting bracket. The pulley drives a shaft, which is connected to the turbo impeller. The impeller is driven at multiple speeds within a volute. The turbo impeller is recessed into an internal housing to provide smooth air flow from the impeller into the volute. The mounting bracket provides flexibility in mounting to various internal combustion model engines. A portion of the supercharger output pressure can be diverted through a hose containing a check valve and used to create positive pressure in a pressurized fuel cell, resulting in consistent and even flow of fuel into the engine's combustion chamber.

The apparatus includes a shifting element 56, which is engagable to introduce or remove a pre-determined thickness within a tremolo system, creating string tensions relative to chosen, distinct pitches. An established ratio of total string tension and opposing spring counter-tension acting upon a tremolo is maintained by a tension correcting mechanism 73. The tension correcting mechanism is manually rotated to adjustable stop positions of required spring counter-tension, thereby keeping all strings in tune under conditions of changed total string tension.

摘要： An apparatus and corresponding method of use extracts, cools, and transports effluents from subterranean, sub-sea oil formations to distant shore based processing facilities. The effluents, mostly crude oil, are conveyed rapidly to a cold flow generator near the oil wellhead on the sea bottom using the cold seawater to chill the effluents to a dispersed mixture including generated solids. The mixture is transported close to sea bottom temperatures, slowly, with small pressure drops, in low-cost submerged bare pipes over long distances to on or near shore processing facilities that can produce useful hydrocarbon products more cost effectively than at sea processing facilities. The apparatus eliminates or minimizes the need for heated or insulated pipe, the need for large floating processing structures, the need for sub-sea processing equipment, and/or the need for chemical additions to production flow.

摘要： The disclosure relates to a sustainable building system (SBS) that is affordable, capable of being replicated at a small and large scale, significantly reduces both the heating and cooling loads of the building as well as the total energy that the building consumes. Energy consumption can be reduced sufficiently that the building is capable of net-zero-energy status. That is, a building made using the system, method and components described herein can, with the inclusion of appropriate renewable energy technologies, generate on site all the energy that the building needs. Specific to this SBS is the design of a super-insulated and nearly air-tight building thermal envelop, that is, to the greatest extent possible, thermal-bridge-free and that has incorporated into that envelope high performance windows and doors.
