    • An amplifying pneumatic switch which is responsive to low pressure signals includes a first chamber for receiving an input signal from a first pneumatic pressure source at a first pressure. The first chamber includes a wall formed by a movable, highly resilient diaphragm. A diaphragm plate is disposed generally coextensive with the diaphragm and is responsive to diaphragm movement. A nozzle is coupled to a second source of pneumatic pressure and is sealable for generating a pneumatic output signal at a second pressure. A sealing mechanism including a lever and a plunger coact between the diaphragm and the nozzle for sealing the nozzle in response to the input signal. A spring is provided for biasing the diaphragm plate to a quiescent position in the absence of an input signal.

    • An adapter integrates a tail piece and connection for coupling to plumbing fittings utilizing a union nut or flange and provides a press-fit connection to the tail piece for installation in the system. The method of manufacturing the adapter comprises the steps of forming a flange on a section of conduit; placing a threaded union nut or mounting flange over the flange fitting; roll-forming an internal, concave annular recess into the section of conduit extending from the nut and inserting an O-ring into the recess for completing the adapter. The adapter can then be sealably attached to a plumbing fitting, such as a valve or the like, utilizing a conventional flat gasket between the flange of the adapter and the plumbing fitting. The installation is completed by inserting a conduit into the adapter to clear the O-ring and crimping the bead formed by the recess to complete the sealed connection.

    • A differential pressure transmitter includes a housing, a first chamber within the housing for receiving an input pressure to be sensed and a second chamber for receiving a transmitter adapted to generate an electrical signal representative of the input pressure. The chambers are separated by a continuously formed, highly resilient diaphragm. A reaction member embodied as a resilient spring is disposed in the second chamber for sensing a position of the diaphragm resulting from the magnitude of the differential pressure thereacross. The reaction member has a magnetized structure mounted thereon which coacts with a Hall effect transducer embodied in the transmitter for detecting the relative position of the magnetized structure and therefore of the diaphragm and responsively generating an electrical signal. The signal may be utilized for positioning actuator controlled dampers within a VAV system duct.
