    • A camera structure includes a multiple function shutter button assembly that is capable of performing multiple functions in combination with other camera elements. More specifically, the camera includes a camera body, a circuit board attached to the camera body, a shutter button assembly including a sliding member movably coupled to the camera body, wherein the sliding member comprises a shutter button arm, a shutter actuation arm, and an electrical contact arm, and a biasing mechanism for biasing the sliding member to an initial position. The shutter actuation arm includes a shutter actuation member that activates a shutter release mechanism of the camera when a force is applied to the shutter button arm to move sliding member from the initial position to a shutter actuation position. The electrical contact arm includes electrical contact elements that come into contact with contact pads provided on the circuit board when the force is applied to the shutter button arm to move the sliding member from the initial position to an electrical contact position. The electrical contact arm can either be fixed in a stationary manner or coupled to the sliding member by a yoke assemble that permits movement of the electrical contact arm along an arc. A lens cover assembly is provided that is moveable from a closed position to an open position, wherein the lens cover assembly includes a slide plate having a retainer portion that slides over the electrical contact arm to maintain a contact pressure. The slide plate further comprises a shutter lock member that is positioned beneath the shutter actuation arm to prevent movement of the slide member to the shutter actuation position.

    • A switch of simple and compact design has a current capability sufficient to enable use in a flash control circuit of a camera. In a preferred embodiment, a camera is provided that includes a camera body, a circuit board attached to the camera body, and a switch attached to the circuit board. The switch includes a leaf spring switch element having a first end coupled to the circuit board and a second end shaped to form a first electrical contact point and a second electrical contact point. A bridge contact is also provided that includes first and second ends attached to the circuit board, wherein the bridge contact extends over the second end of the switch such that the second end is located between the bridge contact and an electrical contact pad located on a surface of the main circuit board. The leaf spring switch element is biased so that the first electrical contact point comes into contact with the bridge contact. A movable lens cover assembly contacts a mechanical contact point of the leaf spring switch when moved from a closed position to an open position, such that the leaf spring switch is forced downward and the second electrical contact comes into contact with the electrical contact pad. The switch has a current capability of six amps, and forms an open circuit in a flash control circuit of the camera when the first electrical contact is in contact with the bridge contact. The open circuit is closed when the second electrical contact is in contact with the electrical contact pad.

    • A camera includes a camera body, a shutter release, a timer, and a timer release arm. The shutter release is disposed in the camera body and is movable from a stopped position to a released position. The shutter release is biased toward the released position. The mechanical timer includes: a spring, a winder, a gear train, an escapement, and a linkage. The winder is mechanically connected to the spring and is movable into a wound position to load the spring. The gear train includes input, output, and intermediate gear units. The input gear unit is driven by the spring. The intermediate gear unit is disposed in mechanical sequence between the input and output gear units. The intermediate gear unit has a lower mechanical advantage in the sequence, relative to the input and output gear units. The escapement is driven by the output gear unit. The linkage is coupled to the gear train for movement with the gear train between start an end configurations. The linkage has a stop disposed to arrest the shutter release when the linkage is in the start configuration and the shutter release is in the stopped position. The stop is free of the shutter release when the linkage is in the end configuration. The timer release arm is disposed in the camera body and is movable between first and second positions. The timer release arm stalls the intermediate gear unit when the linkage is in the start configuration and the timer release arm is in the first position. The timer release arm is displaced from the intermediate gear unit when the timer release arm is in the second position.
