    • A three-terminal current amplifier includes first and second transistors of a first conductivity type. Their respective collector electrodes are connected to input and output terminals of the current amplifier, respectively. Their emitter electrodes are each direct current conductively coupled to the common terminal of the current amplifier. Their base electrodes are coupled to the output circuit of a common-base transistor amplifier having its input circuit connected to the current amplifier input terminal. The common-base transistor amplifier employs a third transistor of a second conductivity type complementary to the first. The current gain of the current amplifier can be made to be independent of the individual current gains of the component transistors.

    • A voltage comparator compares the voltage across a capacitor which is being charged with a reference voltage of a first value. When the voltage across the capacitor becomes equal to this first value, the comparator causes the reference voltage to switch to a second lower value and, a short time later, the capacitor is caused to switch from a charging to a discharging condition. When the two voltages again become equal, the process is reversed. In a preferred circuit, the means employed to delay the switching of the capacitor condition comprises a threshold detector connected to receive the reference voltage applied to the comparator and having a threshold intermediate the first and second reference voltage values.

    • A temperature sensitive switching circuit includes a current source supplying two groups of serially connected diodes. The number of such diodes in the first group is smaller than that in the second so that the first group drawn substantially all of the source current and the second only an infinitesimal portion of this current. As temperature increases, the voltage across both groups of diodes decrease, but the ability of the second group to carry a substantial amount of current increases at a more rapid rate than this decreased voltage would tend to reduce such current, and increases non-linearly with temperature above a given threshold temperature. This non-linear increase in current flow may be used to sense temperature change and also to control the power responsible, either directly or indirectly, for this temperature change.
