    • An apparatus for manufacturing components for a tyre being worked is provided. The apparatus includes a toroidal support for carrying the components of a tyre being worked. The toroidal support has an outer surface substantially matching an inner shape of the tyre. The apparatus also includes means for feeding at least one elongated element through at least one delivery member disposed adjacent to the outer surface of the toroidal support. The apparatus also includes means for circumferential distribution arranged to drive the toroidal support in rotation around a geometric axis of rotation of the toroidal support so that the at least one elongated element is circumferentially distributed on the toroidal support. The apparatus also includes means for transverse distribution arranged to give controlled relative displacements between the toroidal support and the delivery member for distributing the at least one elongated element to form a plurality of coils disposed in side-by-side relationship in order to define a tyre component. The transverse distribution means operates on the toroidal support for moving the toroidal support relative to the delivery member, and the circumferential distribution means and the transverse distribution means are integrated into a robotized arm.

    • The carcass structure (2) of a tire comprises one or more carcass plies (3, 31) each formed of strip-like lengths (13, 33) comprising longitudinal thread-like elements (14) incorporated in a layer of elastomer material (17). The strip-like elements (13, 33) have respective crown portions (25) disposed circumferentially in mutual side by side relationship, and side portions (24) extending radially at the tire sidewalls. The side portions of each carcass ply (3, 31) are each at least partly covered with at least one of the side portions belonging to an adjacent deposition length. Associated with the carcass plies (3) are annular structures (4) comprising a pair of inextensible inserts (27, 28) in the form of an annulus which are anchored to the first and second carcass plies (3, 31) respectively and axially separated by an elastomeric filling body (29). A belt structure (5), a tread band (8) and sidewalls (9) are combined with the carcass structure (2) to define a tire (1).

    • A first carcass ply (3) is formed by depositing onto a toroidal support (11), strip-like lengths (13) cut to size from a continuous strip-like element and each comprising longitudinal thread-like elements (14) incorporated into a layer of elastomer material (17). The strip-like lengths are laid down sequentially in mutual circumferential side by side relationship, to form side portions (25) partly superposed on each other and crown portions (24) in mutual circumferential side by side relationship. Associated with the carcass ply (3) are annular structures (4) comprising a first and a second circumferentially inextensible annular inserts (27, 28) and an elastomer filling (29) interposed therebetween. A second carcass ply (31) is made in superposed position to the first carcass ply (3) and the annular structures (4).
