    • A method for operating a combined vehicle braking system comprising hydraulically actuable wheel brakes on a front axle of a motor vehicle and electromechanically actuable wheel brakes on a rear axle of the motor vehicle is described. The method comprises the steps of (a) driving the wheels of the rear axle by an electric motor which is configured to be operated as a generator in order to recover braking energy at the rear axle; (b) detecting a driver's braking request; (c) communicating the driver's braking request to a control unit which is configured to implement a braking force distribution for the electric motor and the wheel brakes on the front axle and the rear axle; and (d) implementing the braking force distribution in the range of low vehicle deceleration such that a proportion of extracted braking force at the rear axle is greater than that of the front axle.

    • It has been shown that the effectiveness of the brake (3, 4) can be reduced not only due to external foreign materials on the brake linings, but also due to the coefficient of friction of a brake lining that can vary. This is the case, for example, when a brake lining is not yet worn in, when it exhibits tapered wear, or when its surface changes due to chemical influences. Influences of this type can alter the coefficient of friction of a brake lining by 20% and higher entailing, under certain circumstances, negative consequences during a possible brake operation. An object of the present device is to improve the coefficient of friction of a brake lining under certain conditions. This object is achieved by a program for improving the coefficient of friction of the brake lining that is initiated depending on a first parameter and is terminated depending on a second parameter. The program grinds or adapts the brake lining at appropriate locations by an automatically repeated braking, and in constantly measuring the prevailing coefficient of friction in an at least indirect manner.

    • A brake system operates on the back-flow principle during brake slip control and is furnished with a self-priming pump (9) to achieve, during traction slip control, a rapid response of the wheel brakes without requiring the use of a high-pressure accumulator. This is achieved by a low-pressure accumulator (6) of a special design which includes an intake channel (7) to the intake side of the pump (9) for brake slip control and a separate intake channel (8) to the intake side of the pump (9) for traction-slip control. During brake slip control, only a partial discharge of the low-pressure accumulator (6) up to a defined remaining standby volume, through the brake slip control intake channel (7), is enabled because a valve (24, 25) controlled by the piston stroke will then close.     • An actuating unit is provided for an electromechanically actuated disc brake for automotive vehicles, which is disposed on a brake caliper wherein two friction linings respectively cooperating with a side face of a brake disc are arranged in a manner displaceable to a limited extent, with one of said friction linings being arranged so as to be directly movable into engagement with the brake disc by means of an actuating element, through the actuating unit, while the other friction lining is movable into engagement with the brake disc through the action of a reaction force applied by the brake caliper. The actuating unit comprises an electric motor and at least one reduction gear operatively arranged between the electric motor and the first friction lining. The reduction gear is formed as a threaded drive which, for guiding the threaded nut, includes a cylindrical guide piece that is provided with a sensor device for sensing the reaction force. To realize a design suitable for large series production, the invention discloses that the guide piece has a reduced thickness of material or an aperture in the area of attachment of the sensor device, and a prefabricated sensor module that allows testing outside the guide piece and forms the sensor device is arranged in the area of attachment or within or above the aperture.
