    • An injector nozzle which has a body defining a chamber. A portion of the body has an orifice which communicates with the chamber for allowing fluid to enter into or exit from the chamber. The nozzle body includes at least one depression which is configured and dimensioned to cooperatively engage a tab member of an associated component for coupling thereto. The depression is also configured and dimensioned to positively lock the body to the associated component. The body portion which contains the depression is spaced proximally from the orifice. Also, an adapter for coupling the nozzle to a fluid container. The adapter includes a tubular member having first and second ends and a wall therebetween. The wall includes a passageway therethrough with the first end being dimensioned and configured to cooperatively engage the nozzle. The orifice of the nozzle generally aligns with the wall passageway for fluid communication therebetween. The second end of the adapter is configured and dimensioned to cooperatively engage a fluid container. These devices can be used in combination to provide a system for filling an injector with medicament.

    • The present invention relates to a nozzle assembly adapted for use with an injector device having an energy generating source and a chamber adapted for holding a fluid and having first and second end portions with an orifice defined at the first end portion for passage of the fluid and being open at the second end portion. The device includes a first driving member movably positioned in the chamber; a second driving member movably positioned in the chamber and spaced apart from the first driving member according to a predetermined travel distance and including an end portion operative for expelling fluid out of or drawing fluid into the chamber via the orifice; and a spacing member disposed between the first and second driving members for maintaining said predetermined travel distance during displacement of the first and second driving members before the energy generating source is activated.

    • The invention relates to methods and devices for delivering medicament by jet injection to an injection site in a patient. The method includes inserting a needle into an insertion point, wherein the needle has a length of less than 5 mm and is operatively associated with an orifice in a nozzle assembly in fluid communication with an ampule chamber containing the medicament. The needle extends less than about 5 mm from the nozzle assembly orifice when the medicament is expelled. Next, a force generating mechanism is activated, and a pressure wall member that is operatively associated with the force generating member moves in response to the activation of the force generating mechanism at a speed sufficient to jet inject the medicament from the ampule chamber through the orifice and needle under a pressure of less than about 4000 psi to deliver a substantial portion of the medicament through the needle and past the insertion point to the injection site. The needle tip maybe part of a retractable needle of a jet injection device, or is part of a fixed needle of a jet injection device.
