摘要： A silver halide photographic light-sensitive material is described, which comprises a support having provided thereon a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, wherein the silver halide photographic material contains a compound having been blocked by a metal chelate and capable of releasing a photographically useful compound therefrom through a reaction of the metal chelate moiety with a water-soluble chelating agent capable of forming a metal chelate having a higher stability constant on development. A method for forming an image is also described, which comprises processing, after imagewise exposure, a silver halide photographic light-sensitive material with a processing solution containing a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic carboxylic acid-base chelating agent.

摘要： A silver halide light-sensitive material is disclosed, comprising a compound represented by the following formula (1): ##STR1## wherein PUG represents a photographically useful group bonded to B through a hetero atom thereof, CHL represents a multidentate ligand capable of coordinating to a metal atom, B represents a block group of which bonding to PUG is cleaved on cleavage of the bonding of CHL--M, M represents a divalent or greater metal, L represents a chelating ligand, m represents an integer of from 1 to 3, n represents 0 or an integer of 1 or 2, and the sum of m and n does not exceed 3. Also disclosed is an image formation method using the above-described silver halide light-sensitive material.

摘要： An optical transmitter has a Mach-Zehnder modulator, and a feedback loop that controls the bias voltage supplied to the modulator according to the insertion loss of the modulator, to compensate for DC drift in the attenuation characteristic of the modulator. The feedback loop can be switched to provide negative feedback on either the positive or negative slope of the attenuation characteristic. Switching the slope switches the polarity of the chirp generated by the modulator, enabling positive or negative chirp to be selected, whichever produces the least dispersion penalty. Since switching the slope also switches the polarity of the modulated signal, an optical transmission system using this optical transmitter has an additional circuit that selectively inverts the transmitted or received signal.

摘要： A rotary machine, such as a horizontally oriented scroll type refrigerant compressor is disclosed. The compressor includes a compressor housing, an inner block fixedly disposed within the compressor housing, a drive shaft extending substantially in the horizontal direction, and a driven mechanism, such as a compression mechanism operatively connected to one end of the drive shaft. The drive shaft is rotatably supported by the inner block and the compressor housing. A shielding element, such as an annular cylindrical member is fixedly held between the inner block and the compressor housing to prevent the drive shaft from passing through an oil sump of the housing. An internal lubrication oil pump is formed by the elements which are associated with the drive shaft, and is operated by virtue of the rotational motion of the drive shaft in order to supply the lubrication oil from the oil sump to the frictional surfaces of the internal component parts of the compressor. According to the construction and operational manner of the oil pump, the oil pump can be used for various types of horizontally oriented rotary machines. The drive shaft can also rotate without receiving oil viscous drag.

The difference signal is used to control a bias current supplied to the input terminal of an amplifier that generates the output signal signal. Alternatively, the difference signal controls the gain of the amplifier. Output distortion is thereby corrected without requiring external adjustments.
