摘要： An inexpensive conductive mold designed primarily for lowproduction output is provided. The mold includes an insulating supporting wall having an exposed surface covered with a conductive gel coat comprising a tooling base resin and an electrically conductive filler of a carbonaceous material in particle form, particles being in contact to form a conductive network throughout the gel coat. Ground conductors are molded into the supporting wall and are in contact with the conductive gel coat, the conductors being sufficient in number that the conductive gel coat has a resistance of not more than about two thousand megohms from any point on the mold surface to the nearest conductor.

摘要： A method of forming an article of formable material wherein the formable material is positioned between registering die elements of a press. The die elements are advanced toward each other to a point of separation determined by releasable indexing stop means. The die elements are retained in the separated aligned condition determined by the indexing stop means for a predetermined time cycle, after which time the stop means are released allowing the full pressure of the press to be applied to the formable material between the die elements to complete the forming operation. The die elements are then separated and the molded article is removed.

摘要： Mechanism for doffing large packages of roving from a mandrel of a winder is provided. The mechanism includes an upright stand mounted on a base which, in turn, is supported on wheels. A plate is slidably supported for vertical movement on the stand and is moved in a vertical direction by a fluid-operated ram, the piston rod of which is connected to the plate through a cable. A first elongate arm is pivotally mounted on the plate for pivotal movement in a vertical plane. A transverse arm extends outwardly from an end of the first arm and an elongate supporting member is connected to the transverse arm and located generally parallel to the first arm. The elongate supporting member has guide means at an end to enable the elongate member to be aligned with the mandrel to receive a roving package and a sleeve on which it is wound which are slid off the mandrel onto the elongate member. The base also has means cooperating with means on the floor adjacent the winder for positioning the overall mechanism relative to the mandrel. The elongate supporting member has resilient bands forming annular chambers around the member which are inflated to engage and hold the roving package. With the package held on the elongate supporting member, the mechanism is moved to a location spaced from the winder with the package over a pallet. The supporting member is then pivoted to a vertical position and lowered to place the package on the pallet. Air is then exhausted from the resilient bands and the elongate supporting member raised to separate it from the package.

摘要： A method and apparatus are provided for spraying reinforced resinous coating material on a surface. Resin and an accelerator are sprayed from one spray device and resin and catalyst are sprayed from a second spray device, each spray being shaped as a horizontally disposed ellipse, as viewed in cross section. The two sprays are directed in converging paths and a flat spray of reinforcing fibers is directed from above in a converging path with the other two sprays. In a preferred form, the resin and accelerator are mixed upstream of one spray device and the resin and catalyst are mixed in a mixing head adjacent the other spray device.
