摘要： A flame detecting apparatus and a flame detecting method which utilizes a flame detector having a directivity and provided with a photodetector such as a photodiode or a phototransistor which produces a photo-output in response to the intensity of light incident thereupon. The flame detector is scanned sequentially in the horizontal and the vertical direction within a supervisory region. When a photo-output from said flame detector obtained in the horizontal or vertical scanning by said scanning means exceeds a predetermined threshold value, one of the horizontal and the vertical scanning is suspended, while repeating the other, vertical or horizontal, scanning at the same horizontal or vertical position several times. Flame determination is made when the changes in the photo-outputs, which is obtained through the repeated scanning, exceed a predetermined value and they last over a predetermined scanning angle.

Aluminum and titanium powders are press-molded into a body which is then heated sufficiently to provide a porous Al-Ti alloy with an oxide layer. Next, the body is heated in an atmosphere containing at least 0.1% by volume of oxygen at a temperature in the range of about 500.degree.-700.degree. C. Thereafter, a layer of manganese dioxide is formed over the oxide layer and a cathode electrode layer is then formed over the manganese dioxide layer.

摘要： A character shaping device includes a tablet or the like upon which characters are written or drawn, and a device for determing distribution functions for the character as projected in the x- and y-directions. From this information the "center of gravity" of the character is calculated, and the x- and y-dimensions of the character are detected to determine the character area. The image is then centered within a normalization area and enlarged or reduced in size according to scale factors dependent upon the relative dimensions of the character area and the normalization area, to obtain a well balanced and sized character which may then be printed along with other characters to form sentences on a printed document or the like.

摘要： A method for molding a cover on a metal core by preforming cover segments and molding the latter to size with the core interposed therebetween. When molded, the preformed segments are gradually deformed and uniformly compacted to a high density particularly in regions in direct contact with the wall surfaces of the mold, with no inclusion of cracks, pinholes or other structural defects therein. The product molded in this manner exhibits a very high corrosion-resisting characteristic with no machining operation conventionally required thereon, particularly when molded of tetrafluoroethylene resin powder.
